sn95 PCM consistency and PIA factor. Why are the inconsistently a PAIN?

Well :D

There was a time in this thread that I thought info ... helpful info ...
was being shared :nice:

It has taken a turn for the worse and goes deeper and deeper in the
crapper as I have seen it :notnice:

Most views of peeps here are stating the obvious

Like a tune will help

Some say a mail order tune is the ticket

Some say it has gotta be a custom tune on the rollers

Both methods work :Word:

A tuner who is experienced should be able to get in the ball park with
a mail order tune

Is it gonna be right on the money? ... No ... But ... It can be a lot better
than how it was using the OEM pcm values

On the other hand ... as has been stated ...............
A tuner who has the car on the rollers might not get it right the first time

Could be a number of things such as ...........
mechanical issues
lack of experience
etc

AND

Something that has always made me think

I have seen on more than one occasion peeps who take their car to a
Dyno Guy but say nothing about drivability issues or you ask them
something about what was done during the session and they say like

I don't know ... The guy didn't say anything about that

So ... Some of the time ... You see results that seem clustered :(
but
Most likely ... It was due to a lack of communication :bang:

anywho ... I understand Keith wanting to seek out info about this
but the thread seems to be going SOUTH as I see it

Maybe we can get back to the original intent here

Personally, I've seen daily driver sn95's in good mechanical condition have crap driveability with no mods.

I would have to aggree with you here :)

Just one way to show it is the ping thing :bang:

As the pcm comes from Ford you got too much spark and not
enough fuel

Hot start issues, seemingly poor throttle response, just sluggish performance in general.

Easy fix with a little change to the right pcm values

Timing retards, countless adders to fuel and spark tables; It's enough to make people hate these computers.

Again ... Easy Fix :Word:

Yes ... Peeps have no love for the 94-95 pcm mainly because they
are not like the Fox pcm .........
Its normal human nature to see things ... DIFFERENT ... in a bad way

In stock form, the domestic calibrations do feel lazy compared to the Fox stuff.

No doubt, a guy like Don has his head wrapped around CBAZA. It isn't easy for the enthusiast tuner to try and make work, especially without any factory documentation to describe the operation...

The ability for a average Joe to tune these pcm's is not something
that requires rocket science :nono:

Info ... Good Valid Info ... It is all over the net :Word:

Tuning these cars is not Black Magic :nono:

Peeps who dig out the info and make it work for their car have already
invested a good bit of time and effort

Why would they want to go to more trouble to write a book for others
to tune their car

I know I did not do it and I am not gonna do it :nono:

I used to have a little site that gave basic tuning info and that took
a lot of my time

I have helped a fair amount of peeps on this site and that took a lot of
time as well but the peeps here are those I wanna help :)

I would not hold my breath for a book cause I been at this for a good
while and I ain't seen one yet

I think that for the diy tuner to have good, consistant driveabilty around town, running in full time open loop with adaptive disabled (along with fueling and calibration changes for the specific combo, of course...) is the easiest way to get it done. Hell, the factory even did it for some of their export markets. I can't argue with that and I've had good results doing so on my own junk.

I won't argue about this method as I have not tried to do it

I mean ... I just haven't seen Closed Loop causing any issues that
could not be dealt with in my experience

Knowledge is power folks, and tuners who don't know or don't want to know CBAZA will always have lesss than optimum results when trying to tune these cars.

Yes ... Understanding how it works in the first place
means
You can make improvements based upon that knowledge ;)

:OT:

RANT ON.

Frankly, I'm pissed that a strat doc hasn't been leaked to the masses for CBAZA. It's frickin' 15 years old already. Anyone who has it and won't pass it along is a tool... :crapola:

RANT OFF.

I don't think peeps hold back such a document

I do think the documentation you look for just flat out doesn't exist :nono:

Again ... Lots of info is out there :spot:

You just gotta seek it out ...
You find a little here
You find a little there

You just save it all ... No matter where you find it :rlaugh:

You have provided some very interesting info :nice:
and
I can see you have gotten involved by what you say here :)

Well, I can say that my car has been dunno tuned several times. Its still popping 2000-2500 after it.. for lack of a better word.."CRADAPTS" its pants a few days later. I have to think to myself, AL9's do not have this "CRADAPTIC" strategy, do they.

I just got word that the 02 connectors are from a kit, not hand made.

so the harness on the o2 sensor itself is completely unmodified?
