I was just on my way home from work and my car started bucking like crazy and wouldnt do **** when I had the gas all the way down. I knew it had something to do with the CAI. One of the rubber couplers (the one that was a bitch to get on) popped off. This was also the one behind the MAF so my car was not measuring any air at all. I pulled over and was able to pop it back on and tighten it up though. Thank God I left the screwdriver in my car.

Pope off a bypass line on a blower system and you have the same trouble. Yea...They jus't dont seem to run to well without the MAF!

86-88 ('88 cali cars had MAF though) were SD (Speed density). SD relies heavily on the vacuum signal in lieu of knowing actual air-flow in real time.

Your Isuzu is not a Mustang .

Some cars have had MAF's many years before Mustangs ever did. And some cars still use SD.

MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensors are still used today. Many standalone units like FAST and DFI rely on maps and they are great with boosted applications.
