Notice it's also a 6-8 conversion with no reference to that besides the listing of the VIN#. Verdict?
Sure looks like it is hiding a lot. There are no pictures of the center of the car's underside so you can't see if it has the convertible bracing. Also it looks like a lot and I mean a lot of rust under there that has been just sprayed over with a cheap can of paint.
I do see chrome in the trunk that is supposed to goes over the windsheild frame. Other than that, it's hard to tell if it's an original convertible or not.
Its hard to tell from the pics, It could be that he just did a half a$$ resto jod and didnt put the vert frame and top in, But I doubt he had enough money to chop the top off and make it look the way it does now, If he doesnt have the cash to finish the resto. who knows,, let us know if he reply's
The fuel line isn't hooked up. It is draped over the shock tower and you can see the bare fittings on the fuel pump. Ad says it runs, but needs a tune up. I'll bet the fuel system needs some work as well.
The right rear quarter looks like it might have beed replaced. the trim is missing on that side. What is the chain hanging from the rear? no v-8 badges either.
The VIN does decode as a convertable and in the one poorly lit undercarriage shot, you can see the light reflecting off the rear torque box which I believe only came on the verts that year. The wiring in the engine bay is atrocious. I definitely wouldn't buy that one sight unseen, but it looks like a cheap way to get into a vert. EDIT: I think I am wrong about that torque box. There was a thread a few months ago that sorted out what number of torque boxes came in what years, but I can't find it using the search function. Does anyone have that information? I'd like to save it in my mustang binder.
You can see the convertible floor bracing underneath in at least one of the pics. You can see the rocker panel reinforcement on the interior shots, the interior trim panels are correct for a convertible, and the VIN# decodes as a convertible. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...
The rockers would be hard to fake, but that windsheild bothers me, I'd like to see a pic with the top up. Maybe they just got painted
