I have a 98 mustang gt 5 speed I recently had my mufflers changed. i had vortec cherry bombers with 6 cats and then i had 4 of them cut off leaving 2 factory cats left. I just changed my mufflers to flowmaster 2 chambers 40 series and they almost sounded the same. It had a little flowmaster sound but not the big rumbling sound i thought i'd get from changing the mufflers. Both mufflers sounded almost the same. Im thinking of having the 2 cats i have on made so they can be removable so in can have them off untile i have to get it inspected and put the cats and for that and then take them off again. Do you think that taking those 2 cats off will give me the rumbling sound i want. Do you think that those 2 factory cats are really holding back that much sound. My friend recently took off his 6 cats and he has flowmaster american thunders and they have that rumbling sound. Any input would be great thanks
I'd take the last 2 you have and gut them, then put them back on. It'll be free flowing and if anyone gets suspicious, they can look and see that you have cats. Truthfully, if anyone has the nerve to look under your car for suspicion needs the crap beat out of them. That's what I've always done, just knock the ceramic material out with a pipe and you'll be set. Beware though, It sounds really good. It'll blow you away.
Dump the mufflers, keep the cats, and go with an SLP Loudmouth Cat Back. It sounds awesome and rumbles like a NASCAR.
ALot of people say MAC prochamber H pipe gives that rumble... anybody confirm cause I donthave em... just what I heard. - Mark
why don't you do it right the first time and get a stainless steel o/r h-pipe. should've left your stock h-pipe alone.
Dump em, and get a off road X. Mine is fairly quite at idle but when you punch it, it will scare the $H!T out of the cars next to me
Haha i got an offroad h pipe ill sell you, it was loud enough with my 40 series to get me towed.... Now im stock h with magnaflows and the cops are cool...
