Don't sleep on these cars.. "SS" HP is under rated
Cobalt SS with a few mods.. exhaust, pulley, chip can be a nasty little car.

We have some mean cars running around.. some of the fastest around !!!
few srt4 neons .. Soon to be the FASTEST srt4 in the world !!!

    So far... 10.96 @ 133mph spinning 2nd gear

You may not like them... but still give them the respect !

I will give the respect where it is due...and yes that is a very respectible time for any car let alone the obviously extremely mod-ed SRT-4.
Anything can be done to any car. I am not an expert, but I am sure you can run a high-boost TT with nitrous and redone motor, tranny...not to mention prepped for excess weight as well....to a hyandai or a ford escort and probably get it to run in the 10's as well.

Very well put. But I don't give respect to anyone that says "My car runs 10's in the 1/4 mile...RESPECT IT." That's just retarded and childish. I don't like Neons and Cobalts. Deal with it. Go to a Neon site and they'll bust a nut on your car all day.

I've seen Chrysler turbo mini vans doing 11's with some mods, doesn't mean that's gods gift to automotivedom. I may respect what the guy did, but in no way does it improve my view of that vehicle in general.

I agree as well with you. Speed alone is not a factor in what to like about a car. I just can't see myself replacing my stang with anything...and positively not anything like a SRT4 or Cobalt.

If there is some kind of complexial issue one may posses to the point where you go to Stangnet or similar type forum to blog about a vehicle other than, let's say a Mustang, and that makes you feel better about yourself...then more power to you. But it seems a little obvious to me at least that some sort of complex exists...
Just saying that I will refrain from visiting other vehicle sites just to say I spanked one of their cars or that I don't like their cars or whatever the case may be because I don't need to prove it like that. The proof shows the moment the situation presents itself, and is far more satisfying too!!!

Call me crazy, I think the Cobalt SS is a pretty sporty car. Not about to trade the Stang in for one, but it'd be a cool car to toy around in.

LOL I used to have a video of a geo metro running 9's, so who cares that a neon is running 10's. Any car can be made to go fast, so like others have said, running low 1/4 mile times doesn't equal automatic respect.

I've checked out the Cobalts a little and with a few bolt-ons they are putting down 230+ whp. At 600-700 lbs lighter than a '05+ GT, I don't think a Mustang owner should get too cocky.

If Cobalts would actually run from a stop... hmm lets see a bone stock auto GT is high 13's compared to a high to maybe mid 14 second car. W/ small pulley the cobalt may see high 13's.

A stock fox body better not get too cocky, but a new GT... Yawn I think they have nothing to fear.

I still don't get the idea of running from a roll. Sounds like an import race to me, but real import racers run from a dig and actually bring a boot with them.

Yeah this racing from a roll thing is a bit odd, I mean it's not what I would call traditional. But whatever, yeah you can make it a quick car, whoopee, it's still a cobalt.

I don't think it's so much, that the BowTie guys hate Ford personally, it seems more like, their just jealous because other than the Vette and perhaps the Monte Carlo SS..Chevy has nothing worthwhile, to keep up with our Stangs..But then again, even before GM killed off the Camaro and Firebird, I was always a Mustang and Ford guy anyhow, and will always be, for that matter..:D

Exactly, and auto GT could get beat. A 5spd GT and 230whp Cobalt have close to the same power/weight ratio, so if the GT doesn't get them on the launch, it will be a close race. Launching a street tire GT isn't exactly easy on the street. Granted, a FWD Cobalt is harder to launch.
