O.K. guys... need some help. i have a list of problems going on here.. car is an 89 lx, 306 , b303 cam, cobra upper and lower intake. stock throttle body, stock mass air, aod with shift kit , no smog , and 40 series flowmasters. Car has been running perfect for last 5 years then all of assuden about 8 months ago it started running super rich. i can smell it inside the car and it seems to get worse when i crack my window. none the less its bad. I am losing water somewhere but cant visibly see any signs of water leaking.. but my exhaust doesnt smell like coolant it smells like pure gas When i crank it in the morning the right side tailpipe puts out way more steam than the other side. I can also get in the car and drive a short distance down the street to the store. go inside come back out and it doesnt want to crank.i have to give it gas to get it back started. (but it only does this on short distances) also when coming to a stop it wants to surge up in rpms then it dies right out and i have to restart it. and lastly when i crank up in the mornings the car runs 15 mins and then the idle surges and it dies. have recently replace: brake booster, spark plugs (gapped at 52) ( showed no improvements) cleaned throttle body and IAC module. sorry for the cluster of info here. its really got my brain scattered. thanks for any help in advance.

Dump the codes. The how to dump codes is the first thing in the Surging Idle Checklist.

You guys with idle/stall problems could save a lot of time chasing your tails if you would go through the Surging Idle Checklist. Over 50 different people contributed information to it. The first two posts have all the fixes, and steps through the how to find and fix your idle problems without spending a lot of time and money. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions. You can post questions to that sticky and have your name and idle problem recognized. The guys with original problems and fixes get their posts added to the main fix. :D

It's free, I don't get anything for the use of it except knowing I helped a fellow Mustang enthusiast with his car. At last check, it had more than 159,000 hits, which indicates it does help fix idle problems quickly and inexpensively.
