Stock headunit question. HELP PLZ?

My stang originaly came with a radio and a cd player in 2 separate bays, then i had tweeter install an aftermarket kenwood headunit. The headunit crapped out and is beeing shipped for repair. The installer told me that my stock stereo doesnt work when he tried to put it in, the thing is he only tried to hook up the radio by itself... can that be done? or does he have to hook up the cd player and the radio together?

HELP!! i'm with no radio for the next 3 -5 weeks!!!

It has to have the cd player hooked up to work. There is a wiring harness that goes from the radio to the cd player that has some grounds.
