Hmmm...looks like the real real. Maybe the hood was stolen and he peeled as much evidence off as he could. Still, he has been an E-Bay member since July-2004 and he does have 100% feedback.

I didn't know Saleen put a VIN number on the air extractor hoods? The area that he cut is where you would cut if you had a windsor with a larger blower. When I had an X-trim on mine the Cobra R hood had to be notched in that area.

Agreed that cutting off the VIN on a hood prior to resale is a wee bit suspicious...

The hoods do not have serial #'s.

    Ladies and Gentleman,
Ford attaches this vin sticker to hoods, fenders, doors, and/or panels

to identify if those were the original parts that came on the car. Sometimes, Saleen removed them from the stock Ford part and attached them to there parts. Somtimes they didn't. I'm guessing that is what he is refferring too.....

    Ya,

But the stickers ( the pic you posted ) can be easily removed and were talkin a 99-04 hood. Besides, Hey! You live in the past. All of your rides are circa 1985-1998, not that I should talk though since I dont own Sh** anymore anyway. :D

And get this. Did you know that NO SSC hatch will have a vin sticker on it. Saleen sent out 5 or 6 hatches at a time to be repainted and wing attached. So they didn't have to keep track they had a guy scrape off all the stickers becuase the same hatch didn't go back on the same car it came off. SSC guys check your hatches.
I like Scott's theory that the hood was damaged by a blower and or modded for one, and they guy selling the hood just does not know what he is selling or the real story behind it.

And Scott is correct. No vin numbers or stickers were applied to any Saleen heat extractor hood from the factory. Hell, you would be lucky to get a belt routing decal and a Catalyst sticker if that.:D

As the saying goes "money talks"..........I guess every car has a price. Just ask Mark @ PAS about his SA-5 or his 1989 SSC #02!!! If someone wants to give you "stupid" money for it, why not???

    Marcus,
You should have put your S351 up for auction at Barrett Jackson, maybe you could have pulled six figures for it :rlaugh:
