Styled Steel Wheels - Educate me

Looking to put Styled Steel wheels on my 1966 coupe.

14" to 15" max

As wide as I can go without rolling fenders or rubbing.

BFG Radial T/A's

Have seen them with Argent centers, Charcoal Centers and Bronze Centers.
Which is correct? Where did the other colors come from?

Probably leaning towards Charcoal or argent.

What size tires can I run in BFG T/A's ?

who has the best price? Do they sell total packages (Tires mounted)?

As always, pics are appreciated.

TIA

The original wheels were 14x5". Some early 65's were argent. They became charcoal. In early 66 (well, October 65) the rims changed from chrome to black, covered with stainless trim rings. In 67, they changed to 14x5.5".

Aftermarket versions (all-chrome) are available in 14x6", 14x7", 15x7", and 15x8".

I run 15x7 Magnum 500 and BFGs with 215 60 15 front and 235 60 15 rear. I know they aren't the same wheels, but those are available in this size. I would suggest going with 215 60 15 on all 4 or 225 60 15 rear. Thats if you go with 15x7. If you go with 14s the sizes would be different and more like 215 70 14.

Do you think 225 60 15 's would rub up front?

What is your Back Space?

TX65coupe, where are you located? I am in College station.

I forgot to mention you want 4.25 backspacing.

The 225s would be tight up front. I think some might be able to get away with it.

I may have already said this, but I'm near Austin. Do you ever come to any of the MOCA events or Saturday night cruises / meets?

I have a 65 vert and run those wheels 14 X5 with 205/70's up frony and 14 X7 W4"backspacing and 245/60's on the rear. To prevent the rear;s from rubbing the fender lip I had to lift the rear 2" I think withe this set-up 235/60's without the lift would not rub. I chose the 245's becuase I wanted the rear Tire OD to be very close to the front tire od. the closest I could were the 245's OD 28.8" and the 205/70 od - 25.6" and stay with BFG's all the way around. Unfortunatel smallest 14" tire BFG makes is a 205/70. by the way the car with 2" lift looks awesome.

How is the rear of the car lifted? I hope its not air shocks. Even extended shackles are a bad idea if they are really long.

The 235 60 15 on the rear of 65-66 does rub on some cars. Mine have only rubbed once and that was on a really wavy road, where it was like a roller coaster. I have slightly extended shackles (stay hidden behind valance) that raise the rear of my car about 5/8 inch and GT springs.

I bought a complete set of 15x 7 from Kentucky Mustang a few years back. They had the best package price I could find. The wheels have a 4.25" B.S. and I run them with 215 x 60's and the fit well and look great and the allow for lowering the car instead of raising it. Far better look for the classic Mustang IMHO.

I run 235 x 17 x 45's on my other car with 4.75 B.S. and they are as large as you can go without rolling the fender. If you try 235's in a 14 or 15 inch wheel they will rub because the wheel has less back spacing and if you get a custom wheel with 4.75 B.S they will hit the upper ball joint
