I guess I'll mention that my former neighbors son will be on this season. Him and his cousin will be one of the featured gator hunters. Be sure to check him out. http://www.history.com/shows/swamp-people/bios/austyn-yoches http://www.facebook.com/AustynandBlake
I've known Austyn since he was 10...and yes he spent every hour he could in the woods. I knew he was crawfishing but I think the gator thing is new.
It is a cool show. Very well put together. Can't remember the dude's name with the long braided ponytail, but I got to meet him in Houston. What I think is funny about it is, that something like this got turned into a TV program. There must be a lot of people in this country with no experience in the outdoors to draw enough attention for this show to take off the way it has. I grew up doing stuff like that,(more salt marsh action than swamp though) it's just funny to see it on TV now. Not that that's a bad thing, just surprises me.
I've always been fascinated with the idea of living off the land out in the wilderness, completely self sufficient. I would love to have all the connections to society i have now, like internet and such, but be out by myself with my family miles from everyone, hunt and farm for the majority of my food and beat my chest like a badass every morning when i get out of bed. The thought of it all makes me feel domesticated and dependent on the system
I'm not saying I don't understand what they are saying...90% of the time...I just find it funny that the producers of the show have felt it necessary to put the entire show (for some of the "people" in it I should clarify) in subtitles.
