Tachometer advice.

I am looking for an aftermarket Tach to mount on my dash. I can't easily see the stock Ford tach location when I need to for racing. I am not familiar with how an aftermarket tach works on an electronic ignition like my 05 GT.

In a distributor ignition it is just hook a wire to the points terminal on the distributor. This car has no distributor so how do you hook one up to an electronic ignition like ours?

Do I need some kind of sending unit? Adapter?

Any information would be appreciated... thanx.

I was wondering the same thing, I have a Monster Tach in my 92 5.0 and was wondering if there was any way to swap it over to my 06 GT? I would imagine not, two different types of ignitions, BUT, it would be awesome if there was a way to.

I don't know if it has anything to do with your dilemma, but they switched the tach and speedo on the 2010 models. It drives me nuts, because I'm used to the other and don't drag my car. But, the tack is a little easier to see as it is now on the right side.

To answer my own question, I do need an adapter to add an aftermarket Tach , a SunPro in this case. I ordered it all from Summit las night.
