Hey anyone know which cam would pull stronger at low end take off... TFS stage 1 or F303 cam? The heads that are ebing used are TFS twisted wedge and the stang is a 3 speed automatic, with 3:25 gears and a 2800 stall convertor. This means I'd be taking off the line at 2800, the F cam has lift of .512/.512 and duration of 226/226, making peak hp at 6000rpm and peak torque at 2800 rpm. The TFS stage 1 cam has 221/225 duration and lift at .499/.510, peak hp at 5500rpm and torque at 2000 rpm. Which cam sounds best for low-mid range for my setup and drivetrain?
Incase you missed my reply in talk: "Obviously the tfs stage 1 this is a no brainer question! Look at the specs it basically tells you the answer right there.. the F cam would not be a good cam for your combo.
hello first of all the F cam is for manual trans and in summit especification sais that the TFS stage 1 is up to 6500RPM
Empirical data: TFS1 cam was dynod on my car with a set of AFRs and a cobra intake. Guy at the shop told me the cam would pull all the way to 5800, lo and behold my peak HP was dead on 5800 RPM on the dyno just like the man said. Peak torque was at about 3700 RPM and thats 331 ft-lbs. The F cam in my eyes is not a very good cam, too much duration and by the time you hit the power band youll be past redline. The TFS1 cam is dual pattern, has good lift and its the best off the shelf street cam you can get. BTW i never heard of 3.25 gears or peak torque at 2k RPM, whered you get this info?
