Really enjoy everyones progress threads so i thought Ide share my ups and downs with my 90 LX 5.0 Coupe. It all started when I sold my 84 SVO, found myself with the Fox sickness and I needed to get down with it bad! Decided it was time to finally hunt down my dream Fox...5.0 LX Coupe. Found one about 30 minutes from town and altho I wasnt originally fond of the blue exterior/interior I couldnt pass up the deal. I was the proud owner of a Light Crystal Blue 90 LX 5.0 Coupe!

I told myself I would leave the car stock and focus my time and energy on my 66 turbo inline six Mustang. A long wait at the machine shop left the 66 outta comission and soon I was runnin the Coupe at the local 1/8 mile and becoming addicted quick. My quest for quicker times lead to modification and learning and I never looked back.

With 160k stock head/cam shortblock, bolt-ons, Cobra intake, 3.55 gears and Micky T drag radials she ran best of 8.72 with a cruddy 1.9 60ft. The #5 Cylinder smoked bad, fouled a plug every week and eventually drove me to take the motor out to freshen her up...thats when all hell broke loose. After a YEAR of being "worked on" by a "friend" I finally hunted the car down, long story short, it had been slightly stripped and parted out. Motor/bolt-ons, wheels/tires, radio, mirror, 5.0 badges, headlights stolen, Front bumper and hood removed but were recovered, trunk lock and pass door lock tweaked, numerous scratches and dents and even some spray painting to top it all off. Cops were called, insurance stepped in and I settled outta court with the "friend" and now Im left with the decision on what to do.

Found out the car was one of 434 made with the paint code MA...and it had really grown on me over the year or so owning it so I decided to rebuild. Put some halo headrests in and repaced the stolen radio with a good Alpine head unit and the interiors back to lookin good. Really like the Monster Knob too, very comfortable and great for grabbin gears!

Stock longblock with under 100k on the clock, TFS 1 cam, shortie headers, Taurus elec fan and a Centerforce clutch went together and into the car. Cam sounds awesome, motor is stout for what little is done!

That brought on the need for some tires, 17x9 black Cobra Rs shod in BFG rubber, 245/45/17 up front and 275/40/17 in the rear were brought in. 4cyl springs in the front lowered her down and gave it a good stance, still need to work on the rear tho.

Really dig the light blue/black look now, and its become the theme for the entire car it seems lol.

Thats where she sits now, Trick Flow street heat intake is on the way and Im saving up for some good heads as well as some rear springs. Sometimes GREAT things come from bad situations and this is one fine example. Hope yall like it!!!

Thanks guys, color definitely grew on me as time went on, now I absolutely love it, really stands out.

As for the 4 cylinder springs, i believe they are a little tired cause they dropped a TON. Those pics are where they are, no cutting which I hear isnt normal lol. I love the look tho, but I really wanna lower the back an inch or so to get rid of some of the fender gap. I love the ride with these springs tho, great, cheap addition and I highly recommend it!

Shame to see what your "friend" did, but glad you got her back, and put it back together. Looks killer!!!

I'm partial to the Blue interior, i have it in my car and at first i hated it but it has grown on me as well! :)

Thanks guys!

The blue interior is awesome now, its different and the black top dash/steering wheel looks awesome with the blue under it. Im havin a blast with her again and lookin forward to things to come!

Yeah, needless to say the "friendship" came to a bitter end, altho he tried everything he could to make up for it but the only thing that I wanted was the $$ ide need to fix it back.

Matt

Dood!

Are those 17x9 inch wheels up front?

If so, do they constantly rub with the 4 cyl spring drop? Tire size in front?

I need halp with my notch to lower the front

They are 17x9 and the wheels rub the A-arms with stock and 4cyl springs, the tires are 245/45/17 and they rub when you hit hard bumps usually with the wheels turned altho my struts are dead and will be replaced next weekend, kinda hoping that will take away the rest of the rubbing. Its not that bad but you do have to be cautious pulling into driveways and parking lots etc. If I could find a set, i woulda went with a 17x8 up front with a 225 tire but im pleased with the way this rides and the rubbing is very minimal.

Wanted to update after doin some work this weekend. Got som Tokico blues for the front installed, replaced the upper and lower intake and FINALLY removed and replaced the brand new waterpump that was leakin.

Tokico struts. Love em, the car rides like a dream and no longer rubs goin over bump and I dont have to slow to a dead crawl to get into or leave parking lots. I highly recommend these to anyone who wants their fox to look good and low but doesnt want it to ride like @$$! Install was ALOT easier than I thought it would be as well.

Not really a big deal when it comes to modding but overall Im very very satisfied for a days work! The car rides amazing and is smooth as ever with the new struts and the intake really woke the car up. It works really with with the TFS1 cam and Im actually more pleased with the driveability difference than the overall WOT power gains...which im very pleased with as well lol. Not sure whats next in line for her but every little thing I do makes me more and more happy with her!!
Thanks guys
Matt

I think the color combo works great for that car. I owned one of those 434 Myself, also with the blue interior. Mine was an automatic SSP, with a DSO of Boston. I kick myself for getting rid of it, but it needed a fair amount of rust repair.

Is this one an SSP? Definitely a nice car :nice:

The radio plate came from Gaugeplates.com. I HIGHLY recommend their stuff, amazing work and the fit is TOP notch.

I dont believe it is an SSP car, altho I found out that the original owner was a police offiicer! There is a tag on the radiator support but I havnt found anthing that points towards it bein anything special.

This car is gettin better and better and Im lovin the looks of it, makes me proud to walk outside of a store and see it, or to drive around and see people lookin...and I think thats a major part of owning these cars. Now I just need to make it quicker so it can back up the image LOL

Thanks for the words guys, glad its finally gettin some attention!
