There unfortunately are those who will never be satisfied with anything anyone else does. They do not care about anything except their own sphere of infulence. A fact of life. Everyone has a hobby, sometimes it will offend someone, oh well. Grow up and deal with it. If you cannot have a civil conversation regarding the subject. Then you do not have ANY REASON for a complaint! At least in my case, I get along quite well with all my neighbors except her. I've done nothing but improve my property since I bought it. Everyone has different tastes, but that does not grant the right to spread rumors, and back handed tactics. I guess that what irks me the most. Totally disfunctional, and socially undeveloped people. You never hear anyhting god from these people, only thier own bad opinion of you. Some days I'm tempted to put my truck up on blocks, and a toilet in the front yard for a planter to give them something actual to complain about. Maybe I'll just put up some christmas lights on my portable garage in the driveway my II's in. OooooH, and leave them up till like July. What fun I could have.

Only do that if the lights are about 200,000 candlewatt power, and run them dusk to dawn because you "fear for your safety from criminals" :D

Oh and to THE COBRAMAN: Are you saying there's something wrong with toxic waste? My full-time job is mixing toxic waste and loading it out into B-trains 42 tons at a time:canada:

If the lighting is done correctly, passersby should get a sun burn when they walk by the house, though you might need your own nuclear reactor in the back yard for power. (A reactor is just sauce for the goose in this case, anyway)

As for the initial post, that sucks, but it happens all the time in residential areas. That's why I'm moving to Montana in the near future. Screw suburban sprawls, manicured lawns and nosy neighbors. If I wake up in the morning and suddenly get the urge to go unload a few dozen rounds from a S&W 500 magnum in my front yard, I want the freedom to do so anytime I please.

I got nothing to worry about.... the neighbor next door has the $hithole and it makes my place look like a palace! I think he's got 5 or 6 campers, a travel trailer, a shipping container, at least 6 trucks, a Ford Taurus, 10 pallets of wall block, stacks of tires, and plies and piles of other crap. All this is wedged TIGHTLY into his backyard and some of the junk is parked out front and on the street. Helluva nice guy, retired, (older fella in his late 50's) and always quick to gimme a hand when I need one. I figure if as long as he there, I'll never look that bad. But I'm sure that eventually someone is gonna ring his bell, because he is WAY out of control.
And like Cobraman was saying, get to know your neighbors. It makes a helluva difference. I know all my neighbors all around me personally and I'm always getting feedback to make sure I'm not creating any waves. Seems asmost the attention is on Jerry and his junkyard, but they find it hard to turn him in as he is a really nice ol' guy that does anything for anyone.
The city is comming close, REAL Close to annexing us. Vancouver has gotten stupid with growth and have been annexing like crazy. The whole area is growning like wildfire. Never in all my years (since '79) of living here have we ever had gridlock traffic in the middle of the freakin day. But these last two years have been pure HELL. The HUGE migration of idiots from California and all the Portland crazies have uprooted and movedon this side of the river. What use to be a peaceful crime-ridden neighboring town to a big city has turned into a small city with all the problems of a big city. It's just depressing..... and to top it off, they move here and start changing things that THEY don't like... sick...:nonono:

Back to the topic- As per county code we are not allowed more than 3 disabled vehicles on any property that are in plain view. (obviously loosly enforced) You can park a piece of crap anywhere in the front of your house in the county but within city limits it must run/drive, always appear operable, and be parked on an approved paved surface. Vehicles parked on the street must be licensed and registered and not sitting for more than 24 hours. (loosley enforced on the time sitting) Insurance is not required to license or tag a vehicle in Washington state. However, if you do get caught w/o insurance, you WILL get the book thrown at you, and it ain't pretty.

I think just about anywhere has similiar rules. It just goes as far as the locals want to enforce them..

Noticed you're not keeping it around...:D

Nope, no problem with it, it's the long-term storage I have issues with.

You haven't seen my yard, have you?:rlaugh:

My rims, hood, rear bumper, bike frames, etc. all have gotten coats of "toxic waste", the custom snorkle for my 4x4, three of my grease guns, two of my suction pumps (for draining/filling diffs, etc.), several of my misc. tools, the air tanks for my compressor reserve (3x100 lb propane cylinders), the tank for the onboard air setup in my 4x4, my 300 lb. stash of sugar, all of the penetrating oil in my cabinet, the grease IN my grease guns, one of the cabinets I store my paints/lubes in, my camp fuel, the dual remote oil filter setup on my 4x4, the sand and fertilizer I use in my planter boxes, one of my planter boxes, the spray foam I sealed the canopy on my 4x4 with, the wood for rebuilding my back fence, and a LOT of other misc. stuff around my place ALL came into the station I work at as "toxic waste" (and yes, I got permission to remove it from work).....and that's just what I can recall off the top of my head.

"toxic waste" is one of my best friends, eh?:D :D :D

Here's an update for you guys:

The city inspector came and looked at the car earlier this week. I missed her call while I was in the shower so I called her back and spoke with her after she had already done the inspection. She told me she saw no violation of city code, and that the case is closed. I am going to file a written request with the city secretary's office and under the freedom of information act they will have to tell me WHO brought this on. I'm not going to do anything to that person, I just want to know who.

So the case is closed, the troublemaker did not get their way, and I'll still have my car and will not incur any fines.
The nerve of some people is just astonishing. I wonder how the complainant will like my car once it's repainted and sounding hot driving down the street.

Glad I still live several miles outside the city limits, although I'm not sure if they have that kind of restrictions. One thing happend last year, kinda similiar. My DD Ranger's tranny went out and I went back to driving the GT everyday. My insurance company did not want me to drop insurance on it(liability) and if we did, we would have to pay a fine and return the tags. So, they put in under a coverage(about $30 vs $60) that kept the registration current but only for six months. Finally, they dropped it and I returned the tag without issue.
I mean come on, if the truck is inoperable and I can't use it, why should I be required to keep it insured. Stupid.
Luckily, I have plenty of land and no nosey neighbors to call anyone about it.
And the truck is no longer costing me anything just sitting.
