In both instances (Frankenstang and my notch), the cars have well over 200k on the clock and are/were daily driven. They're not show cars, and we're both too damned broke to afford a $2,000+ paintjob to have it done "right." The idea is to have something that looks better than primer (although primer can actually look good, sometimes) from 20 feet away or so, without costing a chunk o' change.
If either of us ever get around to being able to afford a proper paintjob for either car, they're going to need to be stripped all the way down to metal/plastic, anyhow. Both cars have had at least two or three paintjobs laid on top of 'em.
