Yeah, the original idea was put the biggest engine in a medium-sized car. GM wouldn't let Pontiac put a big engine in a small car. But the old GTOs had attitude. It drove down the street and it looked like a GTO.

This new one just looks like a Pontiac.

Actually, Holden's been putting LS1's in anything that has wheels for years. They've got at least 5 seperate platforms carrying the LS1 now. I'm not a fan of the GTO's but the LS1 is bulletproof. Mods are more expensive due to the Corvette tax but they produce great numbers. Look for twin turbo kits soon for the GTO, pushing the bone-stock motor to 700+hp, easy. Keep in mind that the LS1's found in Camaro's and WS6's were not the same LS1 found in the Vette, the GTO's is, on the flipside it weighs 60 lbs. more than a Cobra, 225 lbs. more than a Mach 1. Unlike the Vette which weighs nearly 500 lbs less than the Cobra.
