I'm sorry, but where have you seen claims that it puts down 300+HP to the ground?

i haven't seen anyone claim the 3V makes 300rwhp stock. but it's been proven the 5 spd makes 275+rwhp. after just a tune they can hit 300rwhp and it's been proven. check out www.modularmustangs.com. Tim Barth dynoed a stock 05 with 211 miles and it had 279rwhp and 300rwtq before tuning. after tuning it had over 300rwhp.

I know. That's why I was asking "Fast GTO" where he read claims of 300RWHP.

Can somebody explain why modular powerhouse 05 gt made 279rwhp with an a/f ratio on the 11's or worst

attachment.php

but another dyno, shows another 5 speed with a more smooth a/f ratio on the 12's doing 266rwhp

original thread about this dyno:

i've made some calculations using the t3650 gear ratio
1st: 3.38
2nd: 2.00
3rd: 1.32
4th: 1.00
if you shift from 1st gear at 5200rpm, 2nd gear rpm would fall at 3076rpm, same goes for 3rd gear, shifting from 2nd to 3rd at 5200rpm, 3rd would go at 3432rpm, shifting from 3rd to 4th at 5200 rpm would put 4th gear at 3939rpm.

using the previous dyno graph, you guys can select a most optimal shifting point. hope this help

RPM --- 2nd gear rpm ---- 3rd Gear rpm ---- 4th Gear rpm
5200 --- 3076.92 --------- 3432.00 --------- 3939.40
5250 --- 3106.51 --------- 3465.00 --------- 3977.27
5300 --- 3136.09 --------- 3498.00 --------- 4015.15
5350 --- 3165.68 --------- 3531.00 --------- 4053.03
5400 --- 3195.27 --------- 3564.00 --------- 4090.91
5450 --- 3224.85 --------- 3597.00 --------- 4128.79
5500 --- 3254.44 --------- 3630.00 --------- 4166.67
5550 --- 3284.02 --------- 3663.00 --------- 4204.55
5600 --- 3313.61 --------- 3696.00 --------- 4242.43
5650 --- 3343.20 --------- 3729.00 --------- 4280.30
5700 --- 3372.78 --------- 3762.00 --------- 4318.18
5750 --- 3402.37 --------- 3795.00 --------- 4356.06
5800 --- 3431.95 --------- 3828.00 --------- 4393.94
5850 --- 3461.54 --------- 3861.00 --------- 4431.82
5900 --- 3491.12 --------- 3894.00 --------- 4469.70
5950 --- 3520.71 --------- 3927.00 --------- 4507.58
6000 --- 3550.30 --------- 3960.00 --------- 4545.46

I noticed they ran low 12s@113mph! They removed the Charge Motion Control valves from the lower intake, added a full exhaust and 4.30 gears, and likely reduced some weight as well. Those are just the highlights - probably a lot of other details were not covered. Pretty impressive so far - wonder what it weighs?

I want to read more about this 12's @ 113mph GT 05 from PHP. Can you post a link?

Thanks!

Why not? you have 31 spline axles in there already... You won't break anything on the stock tires.
er, I coulda swore I posted this in Bill's UPR mustang thread... where'd that thread go?

anyways he said it was being launched at 4k and BOGGING. I thought that was pretty crazy...

No one will ever be able to consistantly run the same low time that someone else has . Car and Driver and Motor Trend are just a guideline to what the average person might run. So just because someone at the track runs a 13.5 doesn't mean an inexperienced person will be able to reproduce the same results. So if you want to get technical about how fast the car is, then you could say it's only as fast as the person driving it runs it. If someone runs a 13.5 with a stock vehicle, all that means is that the car is capable of it; it doesn't mean everyone will be able to reproduce it. It all comes down to the DRIVER'S SKILLS!

He was shifting at 5800 RPM. I can't imagine how anyone would go faster by short shifting the car unless there are serious tractions issues. With a peak at 5200+ RPM you have to shift the car above 5700 or you are just wasting power.

Yes he was finishing in 3rd.

Bill

Thanks for the info.

I know that it doesn't seem to make any sense, but we have had 2 or 3 people report that they ran their '05 MTX GT fastest by short shifting and finishing the 1/4 in 4th gear.

So many people are concerned with the weight but it's really not that much heavier then the Mach. I say give the drivers some time to learn their shift points and what not. With some practice we'll see better times soon enough. :flag:

my car falls off bad when i try to get thru in 3rd. you can feel it hit a wall at about 5500 in 3rd, but not so much in first or second. i cant explain why, but it does.

Something funny is going on. Ford initially listed max HP @ 6,000 RPM. When the final specs were released, the RPM for max HP was changed to 5,750 RPM.

I have seen 2 different '05 dyno graphs. The one posted above and one that Steeda did. Both of these dyno runs show max HP occuring at only 5,250 RPM.

The head flow #'s posted by 5.0 mag, show really good intake air flow, almost as good as the 4V heads. The 3V heads should keep making more HP to well over 6,000 RPM. It makes me wonder if that evaporative emissions filter in the air intake was a last minute addition and has affected the top end. Or the 2 stage intake manifold present airflow restrictions. Or could something be flaky in the computer code?

When someone figures out how to open up the top end, the 4.6L 3V is really going to crank.

i really don't care bout ET's and such... all i know is i was racing a ricer on I-10 just SE of Tucson, AZ one night and he quit when my speedo hit 140... i kept going and going and going until i reached just bout the end of my speedo @ around 180mph give or take a couple of mph for exact speedo gearing discrepencies. i think it's pretty good to hit 180+/-MPH with a near stock 87 GT :)

:bs: I owend a 87 gt and there is no way in hell it would go that fast near stock, not to mention they didn't come with 180mph speedos.

Unless the 99-04 Cobras came with a 180 mph speedo, NO stock Mustang came with one.

Obviously, someone replaced his instrument console with a Canadian export version, scratched out "km/h" and penciled in "mph".

I could see a stock 87 GT going 180 km/h... ~110 mph.

You don't seriously think a 87 will do 110 mph max do you? I had mine at 140+ at one time but thats only speculation because the speedo maxed at 85. But based on the rpm I think it calculated out to be a bit over 140.

lol u guys think i have a stock speedo in my stang ? i bought a bbk short throw shifter and in the box was a speedo cover with 90 at the top and yes 190 at the bottom right, and have u seen my screen name... i have a custom T-5 tranny 5th gear can get me all the way to 192 w/ 2.97 gears in the rear according to their tests :) and if u have ever driven I-10 in AZ u would know that there are many 10mile stretches of strait road. I'm just glad they didn't have their traffic helecopters out that night :) but other than the tranny, the shifter, and the speedo, i have a 302 bored over, H-pipe, flowmasters, 24lb injecters, hi-flow fuels rails and pump, and a K&N air filter. no forced air, no huge bolt ons and the best part about it is at the time the car had 191,000 miles on it :) and yes it was it's 3rd engine and 2nd tranny. my car is nothing special, i prize it's sound system most of all lol
