I probably should have made one of these a long time ago, but I will finally get in on this. Here is a quick chronology of the progress on my car. Lack of funds and moving out of my parents house have slowed the project a lot but it's on a roll now!!!

Jan 2007: Purchased car as you see it here. Great running car with TONS of suspension mods. Stock 5.0 with AOD. Interior was all there but could use carpet and some cleaning. Needs paint and a stick shift bad.

February 2007: Friend calls needing an AOD - I tell him he can have mine if he takes it out and gives me a bunch of parts he has that I need. He agrees and I get my AOD removed for free. Another friend tells me that if I buy his Y303 heads for $300 I can have every part he has for a 5-speed swap for free. Major score. Sold the heads for $450 four months later, and began my swap.

March-June 2007: Slow going - not much money. I manage to scrounge together everything I need to get a stick shift in it and get the majority of it done. My buddy paints my ground effects and bumpers for me. I begin taking apart the body and interior to send it for paint.

Fast-Forward to April 2008: My buddy finally lets me know he can get to work on my car. I bust my arse trying to get the last few things together and drive it to his shop to begin the paint process.

May 17-18, 2008: Drove the car to his shop yesterday and he began stripping the car today. He works fast. Progress you see made was done in about 4 hours.

The car will be painted the way you see the front bumper cover, which i temporarily bolted on so that i could drive it the 1.5 miles to the shop without being bothered by law enforcement representatives.

Let me know what you think! Questions? Comments? Let them fly!!

(Sorry most pics were taken with cell phones!!!)

looking good so far. What all sups. mods are done to it?

thanks!

It's got the FRPP M2300K Cobra 4-wheel disc brake kit w/proportioning valve, and the Dugan Racing Tr1ck One Stage 5 (I beleive) Suspension kit. Consists of springs, shocks/struts, upper and lower rear control arms, sway bars, subframes, c/c plates. Also has Maximum Motorsports bumpsteer kit, g-load brace, and Flaming River power rack.

Lookin good! Are you stickin with the bullits? See them on lx's a lot but I haven't seen many on gt's.

Honestly I am not really sure if I'm gonna stick with the Bullitts. If they were anthracite maybe, but I don't know what I think of the black wheels on a blue and silver car. I have been thinking of the machined-finish 03 Cobra wheels with the anthracite insets. Or maybe something else, I just want to get it done and back together! Driving it to the shop was the first time I had driven it in well over a year and just that was exhilirating. After driving an Escort ZX2 and then a non-turbo Volvo, a stock 5.0 feels like a rocketship!

I love the blue/silver 2 tone GT's, this is going to look great when you are finished. Any chance I'll see you and Raceaholic 2 weeks from now in Carlisle?

What year is this car, 87, 88 or 89?

Hey Dave, thanks for the kind words. I doubt you'll be seeing me at Carlisle this year, I've got my own place now and countless other things going on that I really can't escape for a weekend at the moment. I am thinking about trying for Mustang week since thats a bit later in the summer. Something to shoot for, I guess. The car is an 89.

nice bill.havent seen you on here in a long time.its blake with the black/silver 96.i ended up picking up a black 88 lx also.whats new? going to carlisle?

Yeah I've been too busy to do much of anything. I gotta catch up with you guys again it's been awhile. I see you out driving in the 96 once in awhile around H-town...I live in Mansfield now.

off to a great start....car looks solid. OT what ever happened to you tri state M&F guys bill?

Thanks man, we kinda disbanded inadvertantly last summer...tough to get guys together and I ran short on time to run the club. I would like to get a few meets together this summer though!! I'll keep you NEPA guys posted if I do.

nice. bout time ive seen some progress. hows the trans i sold ya? oh an you still have my poly trans mount! lol. anyways keep it up an keep us posted on how it goes.

Haha you're not kidding Tyler. Yes I still have your poly trans mount lol and the tranny seems ok, I drove it for real for the first time on Saturday afternoon and nothing broke, so I must have gotten everything together correctly. Like I told your brother, we gotta catch up. Get ahold of Barratt and lets go to Island or something.

FINALLY!! So glad to see you gettin some progress on your car! Looks awesome, your car's gonna be lookin hot as hell when its all done. Unfortunately I'm STILL smoothing my engine bay on my car. Its a long ways away from being completed.

Well, alot of progress has been made since I started this thread...my buddy who is doing the body work took a ton of pics but I wont have them for awhile. Here are a few shots I took today while putting on the hood and hatch. I didnt get pics of it with the hood and spoiler on, but you get the idea. Now the assembly process begins. And more parts purchasing. ugh. Another few weeks and I should have her all together. Again, apologies for the bad quality cell phone pics...a bunch of high quality pics will come soon.
