Can I fit 275's on the factory 18" Bullitt rim? The car is supercharged so I need the extra grip; don't really want to change rims at this point. What would you guys suggest? If you have pics, I'd like to see how it looks also. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies.... from the info I have recieved, I am thinking about 275/40/18's on the back. Any reason anyone can think why this would not be a good idea? And since I have the same rim, my speedo should not mess up.. correct?

Here is where I got my 265/40-18 MTs

Received them in just a couple of days in awesome shape!

With F/I, I would lean towards a DR rather than a traditional street radial unless you plan on driving it a lot in bad weather. Also, your speedo only changes due to difference in tire rotation (revs per mile), not rim size. A 275/40-18 is barely shorter than the OEM 235/50-18 so you might not need to recalibrate, but if you have a tuner it's simple anyways.

Those look pretty bada$$ .... but how noisy are they on the highway and how do they wear? I've been looking and reading reviews on Nitto's at tirerack.com and they seem to be fine. Was seriously contemplating BFG's ... even though the reviews were good, EVERYONE was complaining about noise. Did you notice any "traction" increase..

if you dont need slicks go with the sumimoto hzlr 2 or something like that can get em for around $100 a tire.. they don't last long but they are sticky for the money and who is the girl in your avatar?? i would like to shake her dads hand?

Those look pretty bada$$ .... but how noisy are they on the highway and how do they wear? I don't hear them at all! I only had them on for a couple hundred miles before flogging them at the track for 15 passes then removed them the next day. Mileage, I don't really care about as they won't spend long on the car, but I've heard you can get 6K+ miles from them

Did you notice any "traction" increase...From what I've heard/seen at the track, Nittos are ok for looks, but due to the harder rubber compound, don't hook as good, but provide 10K+ miles quite easily. When they were on the car for street use, I never really got in the gas much as they weren't heat cycled yet. Now that they've been "burned out", they should be good for next time on the street!

A buddy of mine has those and can't hook worth s**t with just over 330 RWHP...

One of my friends has an '01 Cobra with some BFG's on the back. He's telling me to go with 295/35/18's in the back. He says not only will they fit, but they will be better than what I'm considering. Is that good advise?

I have a hard time believing that is a good idea. 275s are pushing it with that rim.

+1

Those stock 18"s are only 8"-8.5" wide. Even 275/40/18 has a minimum 9" wheel as listed on tirerack.com.

I have the sumitomo HTRZ II 275/40/18's on all 4 corners BTW and they don't hook at all. My car is N/A with 4.10's and has to be feathered into 2nd gear or else it goes sideways everytime, winter or summer.

Would you guys suggest I go to a different rim size (still 18" , but wider) in the back of the car for my current application? Never really had a F/I car like this before and I'm thinking tires over suspension mods. (Bullitt's suspension seems to be good) I saw my friends Cobra and the tires look sick on his car (the 295/35/18's). I went out and looked at my tires also, they are BFG KDW's....

Your thinking is right, you need some meaty tires out back.

If I were you I would get the american muscle bullitts 18x9 for the front and 18x10for the back. I don't think just replacing the rears with aftermarket bullitts will match good with your stock bullitts in the front

If I had my time to go over, I would have went with a 10" wheel in the back instead of 9's on all 4 corners.

I think that settles it then. I'll head over to Mustang Parts & Performance - American Muscle and get the Bullitt rims that will allow me to run 285/40/18's in the back. Will probably get the Nitto's or the Goodyear Eagle F1 supercar tires. I haven't decided on the front yet; but that's going to be what's going on the back. Those rims and tires should also fill the wheel well gaps nicely too. Shouldn't have any issues with that I don't think.

I guess I would of considered the 315, however, I don't want to worry about clearance issues. And I don't want a humungous tire sticking out from my wheel well. I thought the 285/40/18 was about the biggest without those issues.

I would suggest going to a 18 X 10 rim in the rear...that's what i did...made a big difference and now I am able to run Nitto or my Mickey Thompson DRs in 305/45/18s
