I just took of my wing and Im going to stick without one. My question Is, the 4 holes that Is left on the decklid, what can I fill them with before I get It repainted? I've worked with bondo before so It's not like It's going to be a hard task for me. but Is bondo strong enough or should I use something else. thanks steve-
bondo would work.......i've done it with bondo and a metal patch on the underside and worked fine. but the best way to do it....if you know how to weld....is fill the hole with a weld.start at one spot on the hole and work your way around in a back and forth motion. then grind it smooth. you might need a light layer of bondo over it to fill the imperfections. hope this helps ya.
A little secret ( get a peice of brass hold it to the under side, weld it then just remove the brass)
I would take it to a body shop and get them to use some body fill and paint...they won't charge you much and they will do it right so you won't have to worry about paint sag or rust.
I'm taking an autobody class at college Couple things you could do Fill the hole with a weld, grind and bondo, and 'glazing putty', feather the paint, prime and paint. Use either epoxy, or panel adhesive to glue a metal plate to the bottom, use "all metal", then bondo, glazing putty, prime and paint.
I took the "ford" emblem off the back of my fox. I put a piece of fiberglass webbing behind the holes, then used "bondo-glass" (its a bondo compound with fiber to make it stronger) i filled the holes, sanded it smooth, then puttied it. cant tell it was there.
