ok so ive been reading this forum for about 2 months now, lurking in the shadows so to speak. I just signed up because i have a question that i cant find in through searching. I have a 2001 3.8L v6. I'm also a fulltime college student with limited resource. But i like to think big http://forums.stangnet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif i have recently made a CAI, yes made,. Now i want to go bigger and faster. I was thinking mayb a turbo setup? keep in mind me and my best friend are pretty good with making thing (ok well hes the brains lol). I was looking at t3 turbo. He made a suggestion that we can rig it up with some pretty ghetto means. I can safely hold upto around 5-6 lbs boost on my stock mottor if im not mistaken. I need to know if this is worth it. what would i need to do to motor to run higher boost. mayb you suggest a diffrent route to take? I have 1500 set aside right now to do what ever i can to make my little v6 pretty respectable. I know 1500 isnt alot at all but that why im asking for help. so before i get flames lol just keep in mind im pretty new to modding. so please give a helping hand. Thank you

im not sure what exactly is involved, however im told the headers have to be flipped upside down (but that sounds pretty ridiculous) so all new exhaust tubing would have to be fabricated and bent. if you fabbed it up yourself im sure it would be pretty ghetto but possibly work.

1500 is a good junkyard set up goal.

check out www.turbomustangs.com for a list of junkyard turbochargers that'll work with your set up.

And yeah. You can use your current headers. You'll need to switch sides and turn them upside down (so that the collector faces forward and up).

I'm very unsure of junkyard chargers, but with a t4/t3 hybrid setup, you'll want to go twins. Unless you want downlow power and a choked engine up top. There's a lot of math involved in determining what size turbocharger you'll need for the power, boost, and when you want the boost to occur. But you should be able to duplicate someone's set up since there are some respectable TT V6s on the net which were fabbed by people who did their homework and just didn't rip the system off of their civic and made it fit on their mustang.

But check out that website. There's tons of information on DIY and JY systems.

To go bigger boost, you're going to have to do alot of engine work.
