Well my buddy took his car (2000 Gt coupe) to the track with just a prochamber and dumped flows. That is all the mods and he ran his best time last night and called and told me that it won't go into 3rd or 4th gear no more. He shifts fast (good driver) but he doesn't powershift. The tranny only has 60k on it. Stock t45 tranny.

It will go in gear but it will act like it is in neutral? Is it just the synchros...does he need to do a full rebuild?

    Thanks for any suggestions :nice:

He broke the shift fork for 3rd/4th. He'll need to have it replaced. The part is only $35. He'll need to find a place that knows trannies to open it up and fix it.

I did the same thing to mine.

Yep...11.56 right? About a 13.8 in the quarter mile (he is a good driver)...

So he broke the shift fork huh? What would be the labor on something like that? Is that a common problem?

    More ideas?

Hey man! Mine did that too! I broke the third/fourth shift fork. Ended up costing about 450 bucks for everything. not too bad i guess. I've heard of alot of guys breaking the shift forks. You should save yourself the labor and pull the trans out by yourself. Its not hard to do. Also a good idea to throw a clutch kit in there and a new clutch fork at the same time. When I replaced my tranny i put a clutch in it, but it ended up not working very good because the clutch fork slipped most of the way off the pivot, it didnt want to shift very good. :( pulled it back out and installed a new clutch fork. Works awesome

This is a friend's car that it happened too. I hope it is just the shift fork for his sake:) How hard is it to change the shift fork out? Install procedure once trans is removed?

I have installed a "few" clutches so I know tranny removal/install processes but don't know about the shift fork deal...

Is thier any way to confirm it is just the shift fork...

I always told my friend to get an aftermarket shifter (stop-bolts);) Now he has an excuse to get one...
