first off i plan on dropping a 460 into my 86 notch. i am looking at an rpm range of about 2000-6500, (matched intake and cam) I want to know what auto tranny i should run ( c6 or c4 ) and also what range stall converter should i run. my intentions are a weekend warrior, mostly drag, occasional rip around town to show whos boss.

Wow, a 460 in a Fox! Sounds mean, I like it, just don't plan on it cornering well.

For a tranny, I give my vote to the C-6. I think it was Ford's bulletproof 3-speed. (Though you can build up a C-4 to be pretty strong and you may get a weight benefit). But who needs to shave weight on a car when you've got a big block :D

The stall converter you pick primarily depends on the primary function of the car. The more you plan on racing it versus driving around, the higher stall speed you can justify.

Go to B&M's website (http://www.bmracing.com), click on "Products", then "Converters", then under the Holeshot series click "more info". That gives a pretty good description of what stall speed to use for the application. TCI also makes high quality automatic transmission components (http://www.tciauto.com).

Good luck and show every import who's boss. :nice:
