Had my '06 (automatic) for a couple months now and the first odd occurance just started. When in park, I hear a single click & feel a brief bit of shake from the shifter when stepping on the brake. It only happens when in park. I'm wondering if it is the shift/brake lock, but why is it so loud and why did it just start?

    Anyone else have this one?

its the safety features. :) it is the park lock that prevents the shifter from moving from park unless the brake pedal is depressed. you finally paid enough attention that it just caught your attention. listen for other noises, they will be there too.

yeah i got that same noise too. Thanks for the info bigcat, I was gonna add that to my laundry list of stuff for ford to cover under warranty, but now i know its cool. I was wondering though if anyone has had their door handles stick open when they pull on the doors? Just wondering

the outside handle? yes that is a common problem. not sure what the fix is for sure, but they probably replace the handle.

cool glad to know its not just me with these issues. I have an early 05, I ordered mine in Dec. of 04 so i have most of the little quirks that come with the car. Can't wait to get it to the dealer here in town and get the stuff fixed.

My driver's side door handle sticks open. The spring feels weaker than the passenger side.

yeah thats exactly how it feels. I don't know if the passenger side does it on my car but my girlfriend seems to think so. It kinda stinks though, i knew the 05s would have some issues just not this many.

This is a known issue and I believe a TSB. I am having mine brought in to have it fixed this coming week. The problem is that the spring that is supposed to pull the handle closed doesn't have enough tension to do the job, and they replace the handle assembly with one that has a stronger spring. It is covered under warranty at the very least.

Thats good to know. I got a pretty good list of TSB related stuff to take to the dealer.
    1. Door Handles
    2. Popping noise during turns
    3. Shaker 500
    4. Problem with the stalls after long cruises
    5. Squealing brakes when braking at 40 mph
Plus the knob on the back of my passenger seat that leans the seat forward broke off in my hand a couple days ago.
But i don't mind too much, cause the car runs real good.
