After being in the tuning community for several years both as a tuner and helping others get started, I've noticed that everyone new to tuning has the same hangups. ACCURATE information is hard to find, the software is oftentimes difficult to use even when you do have what you think are the right settings.

For these reasons, I got together with some experienced guys in the tuning community and came up with tunexchange. tunexchange allows anyone to upload "templates" which contain specific settings that you can load directly into your tune such as injector settings, MAF, aggressive spark and fueling to name just a few. The templates work directly with BinaryEditor (which is a free download) to allow you to load and compare setting changes. Every template can be commented on so that you know what other people thought about the template.

Please check out the site and video screencast to show you how it works. I'm looking forward to seeing the self-tuning community grow further! Drop me a line and let me know what you think.

Special thanks goes out to Grady and JT for some bug testing and advice in getting this going!

Are they any plans for us CalEdit / CalCon guys? Maybe even just some good how-to write-ups or screen shots?

Mike does not have the ability built into CalEdit (maybe in the future), but for now, you are able to build your tunes in BinaryEditor (which is free) and write those up to the twEECer with CalEdit no problemo.

What kind of how-tos are you interested in seeing? I've got planned to do some more screencasts targeting specific tuning areas I feel could use better explanation.

I watched the video and in the screenshot of binery editor one of the buttons you used (load temp) is non existent on my screen. So I can't figure out how to pull up the stuff I downloaded off of tune exchange. I have never used BE but downloaded it with intent to later on. So I may not be doing something right I really don't know.

Be sure you've got the latest version with updates... under the "About" tab in BinaryEditor is a button called "Updates" that will load the latest updates for you!

P.S. If all else fails the latest version is always available here: http://www.eecanalyzer.net

^^^ I re downloaded BE after having a registered version and now I have the updated version but its not registered any longer:mad:

The only reason I did that was the "about" then "updates" were not updating my BE.

Clint updated the licensing scheme a couple months back - get in contact with him through his site to reup your key - he is very quick about getting it done.

You want to get all the latest updates, great things have been afoot lately. :)

I have not checked out the site but will. I have been thinking about BE but wanted to let the bugs and first few "updates" out of the way. Its been a little over a year since I last even checked on BE. Seemed like a lot of the really OG/groundbreakers just loved it and what it might turn into.

Is there a section that will help those of us who are more familure with CalEdit make the switch? IIRC there was some issue with things that were named differently or processor type to processor type things getting confusing.

I have thought about moving over to it and seeing how easy/user freindly it is. Just do not know if I want to commit 100% at this point since I am comfortable with CE.

If it is 1/2 as good as my EA, I think I will be hooked. One thing I like is Clint is very much on top of things...he has had more EA updates that was based on a better program to begin with than some of the Beta CalEdit stuff. If that is also the same...Mike G might as well try to just move everything over to Clints stuff.

I had already tried updating but it said no updates available but after I read your post I went in and deleted the version I had and loaded the newest version which allowed me to use the file I downloaded earlier.

Very nice!! I think I am going to have to register BE now and start using it exclusively.

Alright, what is Caledit/Calcon thing, and how is it different from the BinaryEditor? Are these both used with the Tweecer?

CalEdit is the Tweecer software...designed and updated by the makers of the Tweecer product. CalEdit = Tweecer.

BE is designed seperatly from CalEdit/tweecer by a 3rd party. It works with Tweecer and other tuners that use a .bin file format. BE was done by the same guy who did Eec Annalizer (EA).

CalEdit is as far as I know can only be used with Tweecer.

BE can be used with Tweecer and like said before any .bin file format.

CalCon is the datalogging software, basicly a seperate program from CalEdit. I do not know if CalCon has to be retained if one moves to BE or if BE has a seperate datalogging ability. IIRC CalCon could communicate with BE regarding the logs created in CalCon I am not 100% on this?

The free version of BinaryEditor does not allow you to talk to the twEECer, HOWEVER, the tunes you make with it can be loaded in CalEdit and uploaded to the twEECer just fine.

With the paid version of BinaryEditor, you do not need to use CalEdit or CalCon anymore if you don't want to.

BinaryEditor has the added bonus of being able to read/write not only twEECer chips but also others.

Interfacing with a DataQ to pull in aftermarket sensors like a wideband, fuel pressure, boost (MAP) is also much easier in BinaryEditor.

I only recently started using BE for tuning an LA3...

I must say that CalEdit belongs in the 'Recycle Bin' on your desktop... :D
Keep the usb drivers, and junkpile the rest of that crappy program :nice:
(actually, I think BE should download with the correct drivers now? )

    just my opinion though :flag:

Sweet. I'm glad to see that there has been substantial development for this stuff. When I first bought the tweecer a few years back, it was all trial and error and extremely tedious. This should help me a ton when I get around to getting the engine finished . . . one day.

    Great information on here.

I finally started to get into tunning my car and I'm finding these templates very helpfull.

after looking at "Aggressive Fuel & Spark for Iron Heads" I'm assuming the base timing should be returned to the stock 10* correct? i'm thing about loading this into my car with my H/C/I

will you have anything available for us AODE guys?

Correct, ALL tuning assumes the factory settings (10* base spark and fuel pressure at 39PSI).

Look in the twEECer manual for some great tips on setting up an AODE. Proper AODE/4R70W tuning is very complex and depends on a good many factors so it is nearly impossible to distill this into a one size fits all template like you can for injectors, MAF etc.
