Uh-oh

Hey dudes,

I got a free oil change from my local Ford dealer yesterday, and I just realized that the guy never asked me if I wanted synthetic or not. I have always used synthetic oil and was told a long time ago that once you put synthetic oil in an engine, you can't go back to conventional because it is bad for the engine, but I don't remember why.

Is this true???:(

Guess I should have researched before asking the question. I just found this on the Valvoline website:

4.Is it ok to switch back and forth between regular and synthetic motor oil? I heard this causes leaks? Is this true?

Switching between synthetic and conventional oil does not cause problems. Because the oils are compatible, you can switch back and forth as often as you like.

So I guess it's ok.

Yeah, you're ok man. I think it's best if you try to stick with one kind of oil with the car just to keep it all the same. But it won't give you a problem switching like that.
