vin question

Ok, I moved from the classifieds. How do you tell a 69 is a mach1 if the numbers for normal fast back AND mach1 are 02? Ex: 9T02M198800 vs. 9R02M18150. One is a mach1 and the other is a normal fastback. Do you have to see the plate with the trim codes?? Thanks...

For 1969, there is no special designation in the serial number for Mach 1. The interior and equipment codes tell what the car came with, and from that, you can tell what you've got.

From 1970 to 1973, an "04" meant Grande, and an "05" meant Mach 1 in the serial number.

thanks guys, so only 3A,D,W trim are mach 1's, right? I was looking at this car on E-bay, 69 "c" code mach1. Well it a 70, and I dont think 'c' code applies to that year, so I was doubting the 'mach1' part too. Ill ask for the trim data then. Thanks again... :nice:
