Ok, so this is pretty off topic, and has little to nothing to do with Mustangs, but...... I enjoy seeing all the stuff you guys can do (that have much more skill than I have!) Perhaps some of you will get a kick out of seeing some decals being put on.. This is just a stripe on my ex-father in laws hood, but it has some curves and the hole for the scoop, so it is more challenging than you would think.
Here's what we are starting out with. If you can see the "pin stripe" on there, that is cut tape. It is basically really low tack tape with a string in it. It makes it so I can cut off the extra without using a knife on the paint.
Once I was happy with how it was lined up, i had to cut some notches in it to be able to tape it down
no turning back now
The vinyl is more conformable then the tape, so the tape has to be removed once there is too many curves. Once the tape is removed the vinyl can stretch much easier, and that can create its own problems when you don't want it to stretch...
Aaaahhhhhhhh!!
lots of heat to get it to stay put...
Almost there
He also wanted pinstripe along the sides
Taa Daaa.
Time wise, this took me right around 2 hrs.
