i have heard on here that this wing only has two mounting holes now and you have to use tape or something to hold it on in the back. is the one from saleen different from the one that mustangs unlimted sells, because it is more expensive to buy it from mustangs unlimited. wouldnt it make sense for it to be more to buy it direct from saleen? also is the wing from saleen the same one as from mustangs unlimited, does anyone know if mustangs unlimited just buys them from saleen an sells them for more? also if anyone has one for sale let me know.thanks
I got one from Saleen a couple years ago and it has 4 studs to mount in the factory holes. I hear they are all like that now and that sux big time.
Yes, Mustang Unlimited has the "genuine" Saleen...I just got one last week from them and its embossed with the above on it...I had an order in with speedworx...I cancelled it after 20 days of waiting...these are backordered from them, least last week they were...i had a bud who went to the MU car show last week and picked mine up...225.00 or so...shipping is killer from MU..Speedworx is cheaper.... mine only has the 2 holes as stated....it was not in the best of shape and i had to work the mother...it has a 1/4" wide flat spot across the entire radius of the spoiler...I have no idea what its made of...but i was and is a mother to work that stuff....the thing seems heavy enuf the the 3M tape should hold it no sweat, as that stuff holds like a mofo anyway....Im gonna lay mine in the sun and warm it up some, then install it...its way rugged but appears really flexible and from fitting so to say... BTW...for those that have these, will the trunk shocks be able to hold the Saleen one up??? I seems heavier than the stock one....
so they all have the 2 bolt holes now? also i dont understnad how it costs more to get it from mustangs unlimited then from saleen. its 200 bucks direct from saleen and 212 bucks from mustangs unlimited, that is both without shipping included. so maybe saleen charges alot for shipping to make up for the 12 dollars they dont charge you extra for the wing. idk
so where would you reccomend buying it from? mustangs unlimited for $211 or direct from saleen for $200?
Sorry for the late reply...had some internet issues last couple days.... I didn't notice you lived in CT...I'd go with MU or even take a drive to save the S/H chg...They wanted 115..00 and I'm 2 states away???? they told me they have to ship it via freight truck???? It aint that freakin big to me...Oh well...
Rio- That 1/4" flat ridge is supposed to be there so hopefully you didn't sand it all off. That is how they are. Either way they will look good. All the "new" 94-98 281 wings are 2 bolt. The 351 are 4 bolt.
Well that sucks.... I thought it looked like azz, and wasn't supposed to be there and sanded it so it had a nice radius all around tha edge.....Oh well... Snapped some pics for you...Mines sealed by the way...yours will come all black...Only 2 bolt holes here... That outside edge thats Black is where I sanded the lenght of it...thats where the flat was I spoke of...
where the hell does all this dam two sided tape go, can someone like photshop one of those pictures to simulated hwere you put the tape?
hey all, i got mine from saleen warehouse for canada 2 years ago in british columbia and mine came with 6 mounting holes, 4 for stock locations and 2 in between close to center brake light. and the quality was great, genuine saleen, with logo stamped on the back, all holes are threaded with all hardware u need. i got it with complete urethane kit. dont remember the price but the place is now closed for about a year. i wish i had some pics to show you, one u guys posted dont even look right. - Kons
i dont understand where you putthe two sided tape. if i put it along that whole back edge it looks like it will hold water when it rains? can someone take one of those pics an photo shop on or paint on where the tape would go, thanks
Place a strip of that 3M adhesive along the entire lenght of the back lip....that lip fits the curve on the edge of your trunk..between the bolt in the front and the 3M on the back, its done...the side "wings" are up off the surface of your rear qtr...that would let air in, water out... Least thats how I see it....It only gets taped along the lenght of the trunk to me..the"winglets" on the outsides get nada...they're up in the air some... Edit...maybe this pic will help on where it locates on the trunk..
