Build Thread Want To Blow 5 Years And $50k On A Foxbody? Step By Step Instructions Inside!

  1. i know my driver front wheel sticks out just a hair more than the passenger, but its also for sure been hit in the front and has an aftermarket fender on the passenger side. fwiw, the rear is the other way around, but when it was at the bodyshop for the front end, the stupid guy there couldnt get the passenger door gap right and decided to pull the rear quarter back instead of messing with the front (all my hatch panel screw holes dont line up and they re-drilled new ones).

all that being said, the tolerances on these cars seems to be pretty whacky, ive seen factory rear ends be off center by 1/4 to 1/2 inches, and who knows how much more its been skewed by throwing the irs in there. i'd check to make sure the k-member and irs subframe are both centered up on the chassis.
  2. I know the k-member is square. Spent quite a bit of time with strings and plum bobs getting it within 1/16 of an inch. The IRS is dead nuts square too. The distance from the tires to the fenders are perfectly equal on both sides. The IRS either fits or it doesn't, there really isn't any room for error with it, so I would have known about any issues long ago. I'm not going to worry about anything until I get the fenders on the car and see what the tire offset looks like. Something just seems off to me. I may send Maximum Motorsports an email and get their opinion.
  3. Have you tried caddy corner measurements? That would tell you if it is box square vs front/rear square, wasn't sure based on your plum bob description

    Just a thought...
  4. Yes. Squaring the k-member involved taking cross measurements to opposite corners of the torque box bolts. I had the numbers within 1/16" of each other. I don't think it's even possible for the k-member to be installed by an inch off. It had very little side-to-side play when I had it loosely bolted in. It's probably worth checking the measurements again to make sure everything still squared up.

I did adjust the front suspension today and that brought things a little closer. They are about 5/8" off now. I'm not going to freak out about things until I get the fenders on and get the car professionally aligned. I'm not working on a perfectly level surface, so that could be skewing things some. I'm probably introducing error somewhere.

  5. Cool, ya I was thinking more hub/spindle centric than frame centric.... I'd think a good alignment shop would handle 1/2 outta square pretty easily..

Your build is awesome and I hope mine will emulate it one day,

  7. I would wash my whole car with Kate Upton's snail trail if I was given the opportunity.

  8. Good call. I'll make sure she has it. :nice:
  9. Just when I thought this thread had it all. BAM.

So... dyno tuning this weekend, Scott?
  10. Negative ghostrider... you can do MUCH better than her. Not that anything is wrong with her, but she's more the quality level of MY car, not yours. This is what you need if you want a snail trail.

  11. Meh. I think Ms.
Upton is more classy than Ms. Fox. Although, it would be cool to have a Fox on a fox.
  12. There has got to be a poem or rhyme about a box on a fox on a fox........
  13. Give me a shout when your ready to sell!! For real!:)

    Looks awesome!
  14. I'd be worried about Fox's box on the fox. I think it's had a few co.... Well. It's probably not clean.

  16. for the record, 40k i think not. I am not a betting man but I am pretty sure he is past that. 10% in tires and wheels....

    and Upton all the way.

  17. Well lookey there.... Another country heard from. o_O
  18. Pffft! It took him 4 years to spend 40k. I'm one year in, and I'm already half way there.
