Water Pump Procedure Questions

I have a 2001 3.8L automatic.

A few days ago I began hearing a squeaking noise from the engine, it is fairly constant and every so often will make the belt chirp.

I thought it may have been the Idler Pulley, as it felt a little loose, but after replacing that, the noise continued. It is a little difficult to pinpoint the exact location its coming from but it seems to be the water pump(a couple other guys have looked at it and made the same conclusion.)

So I'm planning to swap out the water pump , but have never done this procedure before. I think I understand what to do, but I'm hoping someone can verify I've got the right plan and any tips or heads up about anything would be appreciated.

Heres what I plan to do

Drain radiator (and 1st question, is it necessary to flush the entire system? or can I just drain the radiator, do all the work, and refill?)
Remove power steering pulley and bracket (will any puller work, or do I really need the specialty one?)
remove hoses/remove water pump
remove/install new thermostat
install new pump
replace bracket and pulley
refill radiator
start engine

that sound about right? anything else I should be aware of?
