.........they had two (2) GT500's and a Ford GT. Which they ran them on the track and I tell you what they are not helping sell those cars by what I saw today. The GT went a BEST of 13.38 and the GT500s went 14.54, 13.83,14.01, and a BEST of 13.35. They look sweet but come on get some one who knows how to drive the cars. They have these people from Ford race these cars and they even said the GT500s were running full track and the GT was gonna run a partial. The last run they made with the GT500 the guy spun BADLY, prolly over a 100 ft. There is already enough bad talk about these cars (GT500) as it is and then they have these jokers driving them. People were actually laughing and booing as the numbers came up. We then went to one of the Ford Reps out there and asked them roughly what the cars was running on the Dyno and he didnt even know. He came up with "Well.... uh... they uh.. they ran them on a dynojet so its gonna be different...." Oook so whats your point. I love Ford but what happened today was the worst thing Ive ever seen. I would have rather not even seen them run.
Yes the driver mod is and thats why I cant belive ford would send these jokers out there. Back in Black you would be surprised how many people are talking down on it. Even today there were a large number of them. Mostly the weight is what turns alot off to it and the 45k price tag after tax and all the other goodies, and thats for a base model with nothin extra. The car is a cow compared to the 03/04 Cobras weight and size which alot dont like. Another problem is, it dosent look like you could realy add that much more boost to them maybe 4 more lbs. Unless a lower pully swap is made. The exhaust is already good, extreamly quite but good. All thats left would be the restrictive air box and maybe a TB/Plenum, bolt-on wise unless you go new blower or nitrous. The car could easily be a low 11, high 10 car with a good driver and the right mods. But you could make an 03/04 that fast with money left over, saying you buy a used one that is. Plus as many as theyre gonna be makin its not like their gonna be worth any thing in the future.
I guess this explains why there were no Ford trailers at FFW Norwalk, today. I figgered they were in Michigan (along with the vendors--FFW sucked). Did get to see a Saleen S7 in person for the first time, today.
well then those who think that its a platform car liek the GT or the past Cobras are missing the point. Its a car from the factory that is fast. Its gonna be fast. Even with the heavier weight. Lots of people didnt like the way the car looked with the Fox platform from '79 to '04. So the new desighn is a bigger car that has more weight. This car is geared towards someone who wants a fast car for less than a Z06 and is still a drivable car. Speed costs. I dont think the 99 Cobras were worth 30k myself but this one is a great car. Not everyone wants to try to make their car as fast as you can. For those people who dont have the time or just dont have the want to go out and work on their Mustang will love this car. Its gonna be a great car for someone who always wanted a fast car and couldnt afford it and maybe not that the kids have left the nest, they may have retired, this will be that "dream car". For those of us who are younger, we can take a GT and make it that fast if we want to. Well, if our wallet is deep enough. But overall I have heard nothing but excitement for this car. Just my .02.
When the 03 Cobra's came out I was at the NMRA at Village Trail - They pulled mid-low 15's. Mind you this was people from Ford driving them, but still - when you have that kind of power, and running times that cars with half the horsepower run - there is a problem...with the driver.
