after you get a new set of read end gears or a new muffler or whatever, what do you do with your stock stuff?
I made my rear gears into a clock and sold the rest of the stuff on Ebay. List of stock stuff I sold: Intake--$75 Axles--$70 alt bracket--$205 stock airbox with meter--$50 stock clutch and flywheel--$70 clock pod--$10 Radiator--$75 Headers--$35 Driveshaft--$60 Strut brace--$40 Springs--$45
The shop that does my work is also a Mustang salvage yard, so I let them keep it all and they take a little $$ off the bill for it. The only thing they didn't keep was the stock H-pipe and catback.
My car has its own storage facility. I pretty much keep almost anything I don't think I can replace. If you don't want it laying around, put it up on ebay. You never know who needs what you have.
I'm a pack-rat! I keep everything I take off the car. I haven't sold a single item I have ever taken off. Hell, I've actually bought more stock stuff for the car. I recently picked up a set of brackets and stuff. I plan to NEVER sell my car, so I figure the more hard to find items (like our specific accessory brackets) I collect now the better off I'll be in the long run.
i toss everything in the dumpster, even the stock wheels (16" pony) haha. i also dont plan on selling my car so i just get rid of everything stock it was cursed with that made it go slow or look stock!
I keep the stuff in a box in my garage. Who knows.... Perhaps one day some car department at a museum might want a genuine set of stock 95 Ford Mustang GT choaker headers and is willing to pay top dollar for them to complete their restoration project. I can dream, can't I? Guess this thread puts me in the pack rat category.
I keep all my old stuff. I pack it up in the box that the performance part came in. I got plenty of storage space. Seeing how much original OEM part prices go for on ebay for the older stangs, they're going to become rare and wanted and the price will go up.
I have the stock intake, alt bracket, radiator, Drive shaft and some weird stuff still there. If I convert to a 347, I need the alt bracket. I doubt Ill ever use that intake, but I cant see letting it go since they dont get much $$$ on Ebay. Anyone know if the driveshaft and radiator are worth anything? Both have been off the car for a couple of years now. RC
Still got all the junk laying around here. Air box is in the basement, intake is on the back porch stock VCs are laying ot in the driveway behind the car, stock tb is in the car. Some day i'll throw them up on ebay. I want to try and polish the upper intake before i put it on ebay so it brings in more
I sell what ever I can get decent money for. but everything else stays. I have a whole corner in my garage dedicated to old mustang parts.
i would be a pack rat, i keep everything that i take off my cars. you never know when you might have to use some of that stock stuff. not only that you never know when your buddies might need some old stuff you have laying around..
my h/c/i is in my garage. i figure they are still good, and I could use them if I ever get another mustang that needs them. Scott
toss me in the pack rat category...hanging on to those 16" ponys for some burnout action....the driveshaft is just hanging out with our patio umbrella, and what else....oh yeah, my stock headers? i think those are at my dad's house. i keep anything that is "worth" keeping in my eyes (or perhaps some odd feeling that maybe i'll use it or sell it someday?). my stock h-pipe and cat-back made the dumpster, but the other stuff hasn't...yet.
I hang on to things like coils, plugwires, maf, etc.. that way if I cook a wire or fry a coil or something like that I have a temporary fix or at least a quick way to troubleshoot anything else I sell at swap meets I havent tried to sell parts on ebay yet but I might
