I have a flywheel and a t-5 that has no overdrive.

Easy fix. Pull the tailhousing and the 5th gear parts are right there. No need to get into the main part of the trans. All you need is a punch to drive out the roll pin and a pair of snap ring pliers and you can either repair the synchro or replace the gears

Or you might need to replace the 5-R lever
