What is the stock ride height of a 68 GT fastback and how do i measure it?

I ask this because i want to lower the front of my car. It sits noticably up at the front yet the rear appears to have no sagging, there is good clearance over the rear wheels. I believe, according to a firend, that my car is set up correctly, as it would have been originally but i think even if i fit 1" lowering springs it will still be sitting up at the front, which doesnt seem right.

Is there anyway i can measure the front now to see if maybe my car is currently sitting higher than stock?

To be honest i'm not looking for ultra low ride height, just an improvement in ride and handling and appearance.

The original ride height was about 6-8 inches clearance under the rocker panels. Is you'rs a small block or big block car? What engine's in there now?

You can lower the front without buying new springs. Just remove the ones you have now and cut a coil off them. Anything more will require new lowering springs, and/or other mods. Even though the car's rear may not appear to sag, if the springs there are the originals, then they are definately sagging after 34 + years, unless the car was sitting up on blocks in storage much of that time.

I wouldnt cut the coils as you could make things worse if the springs are cut unevenly. It is cheap for a new set of 1" drop springs. I paid 70.00 with shipping. I did that to mine as the front sat way up high. Now it sits almost even with the back, and handling was improved. I have a '68 Fastback 302.
