I have a blue fuse link that when it moves the car dies. I also saw it arc against the coil it runs next to.

Fuse links come with a current rating just like fuses. A clue as to what current they are designed for is to look at the size wire they protect.

Wasn't before. This is a new issue. Not sure what would make it short out and arc against the coil like it did. Break in insulation maybe?

Possibly. If the car runs, wait until dark. Open up the hood, start the motor, and look for any pretty blue light shows.

I've been able to track down a couple of gremlins this way on various cars. Might not be a bad idea to replace those terminal ends going into the coil too. Maybe a nice shielded terminal and some dielectric grease to cover the metal bits.
