hey i got everything ready and i was about to bump my timing to 14* when my dad walks up and says he thinks thats pretty high for a stock engine. what do you all think?
I think that 14* is a good starting point, then increase 2* at a time. When you get some pinging drop back 1 or 2 degrees. Makes a big difference in feeling.
you can go as high as 15, as long as you use 93 octane, here's an easy way to look at it:
the higher the compression
the higher the timing
the higher octane gas you'll need
stock motor, 15 degrees with high octane fuel
I'd say 13 degrees with regular 87 octane
Don't know, I do have 162,000 miles. I dynoed 246rwhp and 306rwtq with timing at 14 degrees, then I ran 14.15 with 18 degrees, wondering if that much advance is hurting me?
I never had any trouble in the summers running 14 degrees, so I don't doubt that I'm at 18 degrees now in the winter with 20 degree air temps.
