Hi Gents,
It has been a long time since I have posted on the Stangnet.
A bit about my car, I have a 69 Mach 1 that now as of a couple of days ago sports a 351 based 408w and a older AOD swap.
However, I recently had a starter failure and replaced the starter that the PO had with used with the AOD which was an auto starter (long nose starter) for a 70's application Mustang with the same unit from NAPA.
After installing it on my new 408w with a new TCI 164 tooth Flexplate, it did a number on a couple of the teeth on the ring gear. I started a thread on VMF and I'm getting some people that think that AODs use the same starter as manuals and not the long nose automatic starters from older generations.
Does anyone know what the stock starter was on late 80-earlier 90s mustang with a AOD?
Here is my Thread for reference.
