This is a pointless argument because everyone is going to have different opinions on this and share their different experiences. rj95svt your right most people dont know how to drive. So it makes it a bit easier for us. And 5spd gt I would not go so far to say that they are "light years ahead" in tech. vs the pushrod. Because look at GM they stuck with the Push rod and look how far its taken them. Who would have thought cathedral ports on an LS1 could make such a nice amount of power. And I wouldnt call the SOHC efficient, Now the 32V DOHC does make great use of volumetric efficiency but we are not talking about that motor here we are talking about the 2v SOHC 4.6 here. And as far as ur argument of beating ZO6's what car where you driving and what where your mods. And if your going to tell me you were stock then the ZO6 drivers either werent really racing you or they didnt know how to drive. I know my instructors corvette isnt a Z06 just the 350HP LS1 but that thing hauls nuts and he really knows how to drive it.

I know a guy that brags all the time about all the cars he "beats" in his car. (Either a bone stock Thunderbird Super Coupe or 80's era Grand Marquis. I wonder if he thinks he has one of those super rare Cobra Grand Marquis?)

I've owned 4.6s and 5.0s alike. Driven cobras, raced cobras, raced 5.0s, and even have had my share of bowties. Hands down, a modular motor is more efficient, HOWEVER, they are just as equally inefficient in the bang for your buck. The amount of money it takes to run serious power with a modular motor, is much more then your basic small block. So modulars are quite efficient, however if you want a race car, or you just plain want to go fast, i'll root on and preach a 5.0 is plenty enough to go fast on the cheap. Hell, theres folks running stock heads, cam, and intake with just the right setup and tweaked cutting high 12's, I've yet to see a 96+ gt do that. Although, 4 valve cobras with tires, 4.10s, and minor things and a good driver could do the same. But if you want to pay 1000 dollars just to put some cams in a cobra, just to get the lumpy lump sound goin on, your welcome to, but there less efficient when it comes to your wallet. I've tried 4.6s, i still have the car i've tried, and i busted 13's with a BONE stock NPI motor and automatic, but in the long run, 800 bucks on top of the pain in the ass install for cams in a gt is ridiculous. I've already bought my 5.0 and am moving on from 4.6s, i don't have that kind of money.

A solid driver, some good tires, gears, bolt ons, longtubes, suspension, you'd definately be able to put it together to beat em down. Many stock motor'd 5.0 5spds that run low 13's around here.

The cathedral ports are one of the reasons why it does make power. It is the equivalent of a high port cylinder head. :)

The 2V and 3V cylinder head designs are better. The 2V even has 7mm valve stems, and the 3V has 6mm valves. Lightweight...

How about a 340 RWHP/346 RWTQ 3V that drives like stock on 87 octane? Just some ported heads and a few bolt-ons.

    -Hitech Motorsport ported heads
    -Long tube headers
    -C&L CAI
    -UD pullies
    -High flow cats
    -Hitech Motorsport 87oct tuning
    -Stock cat-back
    -Stock cams
    -Stock intake
    -Stock 55,000 mile short block
    -Stock TB
-Charge motion plates still in place, and operating as factory.

This is all with 281 cubic inches.

5speed I am just pointing out we were originally talking about the "New edge" 4.6l PI SOHC. I am not knocking them, I was just stating my personal experience with them and my opinions. I LOVE ALL MUSTANGS:D . Hell I almost bought a mod mustang. When you talk cobra's and the 3v's thats a different story. Besides the fact your comparing 2005+ Technology Vs (lets face it) 1970's technology. LOL. Like Bad92Gt stated the 5.0 can cut pretty low times pretty cheap pretty easy and sometimes pretrrrrrrrrrrr**ERrrfrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfrrrrr45rrrrrr4rfrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrdrfrfrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfrrrrrrrrrrrrr4rr!!!!! freaking R keeps poping out of key board! Ok like I was saying Sometimes pretty stock.
