It was a Civil Defense marker. When and if instructed to you were supposed to tune your radio to that spot on the dial to get instuctions on how we were supposed to survive an attack from the Reds. All radios had them beginning in 1954.

I just installed a JVC KDH-HDR1 along with a JVC CS-BB2 for a little bottom end in my '92. We have 2 local stations broadcasting in HD.

i would have guessed somehting along those lines, but mine would have been some kind of weather station for really bad weather.

Funny about the red 55MPH, cause the foxes speedos go to 140MPH and will just about do that.....I took my last one up to 130MPH, then shut it down cause it was an automatic and it was just scary!!!!
