These days domestic car makers want more than BMW for parts. I own 2 BMW's on top of my mustang and I order my parts from a dealer online at a discount and I am amazed at how cheap a lot of the parts are. Before I owned a BMW I thougth parts were gonna be crazy expensive but they are pretty reasonnable.

For an example the headlights were pitted badly on my 2002 3 series. I ordered brand new headlight covers from the dealer for $70 each(they just clip on and off so no need to replace the whole headlight, cool design). Now my lights look brand new. The hood latches were a little rusty so I figures I'd replace them to have a cleaner engine bay... $7 for the top part, $13 for the lower part. On a BMW for crying out loud.

Then I went to ford to buy a center cap for a wheel $32 !!!! mhhh no thanks.

Recently bought a 06 Ranger to keep miles off the Bullitt and among other missing things and issues, it was missing it's cupholders. Amazing how much of a PITA that can be. Anyway, Ford quoted me 51 bucks for the replacement but cut me a employee price "deal" of 38 plus tax. But hey, at least now I can keep both hands on the wheel without spilling a soda in my lap!
