I bought my Daughter a '93 Mustang LX 2.3 about 2 months ago. I did a rear main seal and an oil change when I got it and a few hundred miles later, it was down a quart, same thing a few hundred miles later. All in all, I figure it lost about 4-5 quarts of oil in about 2200 miles. There are no leaks and no smoke. Car only has about 66k original miles on it (carfax verified) and sat for about 4 years. Runs great and no other issues. Where is the oil going? Thanks...

I am pretty sure it can burn enough to drop the level over time without being easily visible. Maybe it is burning it more at highway speeds. It would be hard to notice it then.

You know for a fact it doesn't smoke?

My old '90, I thought it didn't smoke because I couldn't see any, my brother was following me once and told me it had smoked a bit mostly on engine braking.

If I changed the oil, that car would be 2, sometimes 3 quarts low by the time I hit the 1500-2000 mile mark between oil changes. It wasn't leaking bad enough to leave a spot either.

It was kinda weird.
