If you had an 02 Grand Prix with 70k, and a 93 Notch with 65K, which one would you sell? Both have their good and bad points. 02 Grand Prix + 4 door for baby seat + Gas mileage is about 23 mpg + Good car in the rain and inclement weather + Newer + Great heating and A/C + ABS - I don't have the first clue how to work on it. - Slowish - Unknown reliability after 100k and no way to repair myself - May need tires in a year or so 93 Mustang LX Coupe + Rare. If I sell it I'll never get another one like it again. + Fast + I can do anything to this car. If it breaks down I can fix it. + I have spare parts for this car. Heads, fuel pump, wheels, etc... + Brand new tires - Heating and A/C aren't great (Car runs very cool, so on cold days the heat is meh) - Older. More likely to have problems? - Gas Hog. Either way I'll net about the same dollar wise. That will be put toward my wife's car (05 4Runner). As far as gas mileage, I'll be without the $456 payment per month on my wife's car no matter which one I sell. One is safer, one is faster. Both are nice. Both have had tune ups. Both have roughly the same mileage. Next weekend or the week after my neighbor is going to help me paint the fiberglass hood and faded bumper on the mustang. The front needs lowering springs badly. The guy I bought the mustang from drove the car everyday to work for a year, and I drove it all the way from florida (375 miles). One more consideration. If I sell the mustang, I'll pick another one up in a few months to a year, though a much cheaper one that'll have a ton of miles probably. It'll have to be aroune $2,000-$3,000. On that same note, if I sell the Grand Prix I'll pick another daily driver up in a few months and I may spend $150-200 a month on it. What would you personally do. If one had to go, which would you get rid of? I love both cars.
It makes more sense to sell the Notch...... nope, sure dosent. Does it snow there? I didnt think so. Keep the notch cause I believe you will kick yourself for selling that one Is that the one that had a hood strip on it when you bought it?
fwd is a little more difficult to work with and you will need to work on it. as for the heat, what t-stat are you running? if it's lower than stock, try going back to the 192* if it has problems, parts are cheap and easy to find as well as easy to work on. as for gas, it's a good reason to swap to a 6spd. plus the Mustang will continue to hold its value better than the Pontiac.
Put it this way, I just sold my '02 Grand Priz GTP anniversary edition and kept my Stang. 'Nuff said !
Sell the grand prix, Ill bet it was have alot more problems then the stang past the 100k mark. Pick up a taurus or escort in a few months when your more stable, around here you could get one cheap.
Sell the GP. That is a non biased opinion. You've got a family ride, plus another you can work on and have spare parts for, etc.... I still rock my 96 GT for that very reason...... I'll keep it till the wheels fall off.
My mom has a '99 GP. Once it hit 130K it started having problems left and right. The A/C went out recently, AND the fan. The fan only works on the highest setting.
The fan is an easy fix. You need to replace the blower motor resistor. I replaced it on my GTP when it went.
Keep the Mustang dude. I know too many people that regret selling a vehicle they got attached to. I myself regret selling two of my vehicles already. Don't be one of those people (like me). It sucks to regret selling something and wish you had it back everyday.
If you sell the GP, even in the future you might get another car, and you'll seldom think of the GP, you see one, you'll say "I had one once". Sell the foxbody... every time you see one, a tear will come to your eye. you will miss it like your first love, and you'll end up buying another one.

Also, I don't know if it's maybe because you have a leadfoot when you drive your Fox or if you're only driving it in city traffic, but I've seen soooooo many people pulling down low 20's for gas mileage in their 5.0 Foxes. I get close to 24 MPG right now highway with my '84 AOD 5.0, but that's because I'm running CFI. I'm expecting to get 25 to 26 MPG highway when we go back to the MTBE fuel blend in May here in Arizona, this ethanol crap always knocks everyone's gas mileage down by at least 2 or 3 MPG on average. Either you just need to do a tuneup on your Fox or you need to just modify your driving habits. Also, as far as the A/C is concerned, you should try adding some of that synthetic booster stuff to the system. If you've got it already switched to 134a, put in a can of that Arctic Freeze additive they sell at Wal-Mart or any parts store and I guarantee you'll feel a difference in how that thing cools. Retrofitted cars that were originally R-12 tend not to feel as cool as those that were designed specifically for 134a (usually '94+ models), but that additive sure seems to make up for it quite a bit. Also maybe invest in a bigger/more efficient radiator if you haven't already, as your engine's ability to shed heat will affect the performance of your A/C. If it's a blower strength issue, maybe make sure all your vent blend doors are opening/closing properly. FWIW, my '84 blows WAY more air than my '86 GMC truck does with a brand new blower motor, mostly because the vacuum actuators for the blend doors on my truck are all goofy. Also ... don't Grand Prix cars have a typical history of transmission problems? I'd sooner drop and service the trans on a Fox than EVER have to deal with any of the crap on ANY FWD car.
there was a time when i would suggest selling a mustang and keeping a pontiac, those day are long gone though. dump the GP and fix the stang.
