I called up a local mustang shop and the guy told me about two different kinds of valve cover gaskets, cork, and metal or something like that. He also said that the metal ones are reuseable and leak-proof. The cork ones cost $13 and the metal are $58. Does it really matter what I use?

For what its worth...some VCs can't use the stock rubber/oring ones, specially if they dont have a lip to hold it....i couldn't use em on my chrome VCs...
i had the cork Fel-pros that came in my FMS gasket kit and threw them on....work fine, and no leaks yet... i have had then on and off no less that 6 times adjusting valves and such....not saying there the best, but i have no compliants...if your in a jam, they'll do.
My VCs have the cut-outs for the ears on the gaskets, and the Fel-Pros have the ears, so that worked sweet...holds em in place nice...
