I am currectly building an engine right now, and everything is done except the intake. I'm stuck on what for intake to go with.

Heres the combo to help you figure out whats best for it.

306ci Forged Bottom end
11.5.1 Compression
Lunati Hydralic Roller Cam (242/252 Duration @0.050) (560/576 Lift)
1.6 Roller Rockers
AFR 205cc Heads (unported)
75mm Throttle Body
24lb injectors

I have a GT40 lower intake laying in my garage. I seen alot of "Box" upper plenums for the GT40. If I were to port-match the GT40 to the 205cc heads and get a box upper plenum would it make the same or more power over the trickflow R or edelbrock victor. This motor will be reving to 6500 + RPMS. I'm not looking for good low end torque, just an all out high horsepower screamer.

Also I heard that single nozzle nitrous systems at 150+ shots aren't effecient with a long runner intake. Would my nitrous system benifit from a Box upper plenum? It is a Nitrous Express Single Nozzle Wet System good up to a 300 shot.

you'd have to port the GT40 lower to get it to flow the 305cfm those heads flow @.600" of lift and then it would work with the box upper - I'd use the TF box or BBK box. Your comment about "high HP screamer" leads you more to a box over a long runner intake, but at 6,500 that's not really "screamer" rpm. Both types would work for you.

Would the AFR 185s work better than the 205 that I have.

BTW: I plan on building a 408 stroker with a Paxton Novi 2000 making 20+ psi down the road, so this way I have heads that will flow enough for that motor and i dont have to buy new ones.

you have a 306 with 205 heads and a decent cam - that combo is begging for rpm you won't give it for now I gather - unless the "6,500+" means more than I think. For that reason, the long runner intake is gonna make this combo more useful for now. A Victor Jr is not a long runner - and it won't work on a 408 all that well depending on rpm once again. A box might - if your going to give this combo some rpm, then the Victor or a box will work better over a RPMII or equivalent. Your trying to make this and that work for now and later.........

TRS-R intake for ur 306, Victor will not fit under a stock hood. R is good from 2500-7500, Victor 3500-7500.

IMO, the AFR 205's will be too small for a stout 408.

The cam s/b designed around the cfm flow of the heads and intake among other things.

I would do the new TFS Track heat cnc'd 205's - flow 300/220 @ .500 lift, TFS-R intake and a custom cam from Cam Motion, FTI or Jay Allen.

302 parts do not work well on 347 and 408 strokers.

yes i would say to get the power out of those heads on a 306 your going to have to rev it. the victor is where i would be looking. the 205 will work nicely on the 408 stroker. flip through any mustang mag and they run that head all the time with 500+ hp off the crank. however you will be buying a new intake for the 408 because the 302 will ot swap to the 351w.

Which combo would make more horsepower at 6500 RPMs

AFR 185 Heads
Lunati Cam (242/252 Duration @50) (560/576 Lift) (3000-7000 RPM Range)
Edelbrock RPM ll Intake

Or

AFR 205 Heads
Same Lunati Cam
Edelbrock Victor 5.0 Intake

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
