Which oil works best?

This question is sure to start a debate, but which motor oil is the best performing in these V6 engines? By best performing, I mean best against wear and friction, not necessarily the most expensive, or advanced, or whatever. This car is a high mileage daily driver, driven by my wife. I am looking forward to the responses this generates...

Any quality Certified oil 5W30. Castrol, Mobil, Amsoil, Shell, etc. A good filter is just as important.
