people are adding this to their gt's and compairing it to the p51 (which is what i will go with). it is not adding up to me, and there had been dynos testing the bullitt on gt's. it shows good gains to the wheels after bullitt installatin on a gt.

how is this possable, the real bullitt car hardly makes more power then a gt. why the heck would this intake do anything for a gt, it dont do much for the actuall bullitt? im skeptical of the testing.

the bullit intake doesnt do much for stock motors. it is best for boosted or highly modified cars. stock it didnt add much hp but plenty of torque. most go with this intake because its lower cost and it is cast aluminum while stock is plastic.

for the cali guys the bullit intake is really the only option, because the p-51 isn't smog legal. I'll probably go with a p-51 anyways since I'm already going to have to change my cams and exhaust next time I smog.

Stock Bullitt have about 15 more hp than a GT and a lot of low end TQ over the GT. That's what the intake wil do you you.

A good CAI/TB/plenum combo makes the same or more power for a third of the cost of the swap, but then you still have the flimsy plastic lower.

The Bullitt intake when opened up is VERY nice.

Does anyone know of before & after dyno plots showing the differences? The Bullitt was factory rated only 5HP more than the GT and it also had a better exhaust than the GT. If the rating was only 5HP more with an intake and exhaust, it ain't worth it.

However, if the area under the curve is better, if the Bullitt returns better low-end torque, it might be. I'd want to see before and after, preferrably on a variety of cars (e.g. blown for the blower guys, bolt-ons for us poor folks and so on) to see the real-world differences.

Unless you find a used one with all the various parts needed to do the swap its cheaper to buy a P51 anyway and its a better performing unit, but it is ugly.

foxlake says it does. though i have read a couple places that it's hit and miss, though most do fit, some do touch and require the removal/cutting of the underhood liner

helps on boosted cars alot..... and its not plastic, but heavier... some people actually port them and then add a accufab TB.... I've heard that porting one and adding the accufab on a boosted car will net you about 30-35 rwhp. it would be best to find one used.. since they are expensive as hell new.

This is correct. On a N/A application it adds only approximately 5 rwhp.

you are looking at peak numbers on on a stock car.

the bullitt intake has a higher rpm and hp potenital. it is also not plastic.

I mean the p-51 is only good for 8hp on a stock car.

that being said I can't see buying a brand new bullitt over the p-51. The p-51 obsoleted the bullitt for me. cheaper and more power. unless you find a cheap used bullitt it is a waste of money now. the looks arument for an intake is just kind of dumb. I mean you buy the intake that makes the best power for you combo.

Am I the only one that thinks its crazy to pay $1K for an intake? I mean there is no upper and lower, I know so its like both combined, but still you can buy upper & lowers all day long for a 5.0 for $500... Geez these cars are blowing the whole bang for the buck thing out the window. Less power for more money used to be GM's slogan, but now its the same for Ford. I'm about to sell this stupid 4.6 and go back to a 5.0 to play with.

Where though? At the peak? How much elsewhere?

My SCT tune added just 4HP at the peak, from 264 to 268rwHP, but the 15-20 ft-lb & attendant HP gain it got at 3000RPM make the car much more satisfying to drive. To the casual observer looking just at peaks, 4HP wasn't worth it but the improvement in area under the curve definitely was when one takes the focus away from the "peak" number.

It's surprising there are not more people who've done the swap and run before/after comparisons. Stangpro comes close to giving a Bullitt baseline, but on a MD? :bang: What we need are a GT engine with a PI intake and then swapped to a Bullitt, with no other changes. It's tough to compare Bullitt (the car) to a GT because of the other changes (e.g. exhaust.)

aftermarket LS1 intakes sell for around 500-600. I have no idea why bullitts are so expensive? maybe not as many made I guess? about 5000+ bullitts were made and not many people are buying these intakes directly from ford??

did you know they make a carbureted LS1 manifold? sells for $730 bucks..... stupid rednecks. :rlaugh:

A new Bullitt intake is way more expensive than an SCT tune. Even if it adds 5 rwhp across the board, the Bullitt intake would not be worth it to me, if I was N/A.

th bullitt does provide better under the curve power.

bottom line is not worth it to switch until preping for the blower!

in the mean time go with the plenum.

was just curoius, and it started good tech conversation :D
