Wiper motor wiring question Ford ranger tilt column conversion (Long)

I pulled a tilt steering column out of a late 80 ish ford ranger primarily so I could put tilt in my 70 coupe, but now I've got a nifty wiper switch and hi/lo beam switch on the tree that I want to make functional. My problem is that the wiper switch was mising from my car when I got it. Anyone got a 69/70 that knows what color does what function on the wiper motor harnes. My wiring diagram doesnt go into detail other than the wires go to the motor, but I'd guess one is hot, one is slow speed one's fast and one is squirt, anyone know what colors corespond to those functions etc. I dont want to fry my motor, well I'm not even sure if it works at this point?

The ranger column was damn near a perfect swap other than the fact I had to cut the rag joint off of the mustang column and weld it onto the ranger column and fab up a new bracket for the floor board and under the dash, hole thing took me less that 2 hours to fab up and it's got sweet tilt, but I figured that the optimum position was right where the wheel was with no tilt:rlaugh: but I can now call it a frankenstein style custom.

I've been working my ass off the past few weeks trying to get the bodywork finished up and all of the other ods and ends done. The car is mechanicaly done, all I've got left is bodywork and to finish up the wiring for the steering column swap. I took the column out of a late 80-ish Ford Ranger so I could have tilt steering and get the wiper controls and hi/low beam switch on the column.

The swap was really pretty easy, all I had to do was fab up a new upper bracket, which was just a chunck cut out of the old column where it boldted to the dash and welded right to the bottom of the new column. For the lower mount at the floor board I had to cut off the Rangers mount off and then tack weld the mustangs old floor mount to the end of the shaft just below the lower bearings. I'ts kind of ugly, but I'll take it out and clean up all of the welds later. The rag joint setup on the ranger was a bit diffrent than the mustangs, so I cut the end of the shafts of both columns and welded the mustangs rag joint to the new column, but the length was a perfect fit.<br>

As far as the body work goes, it's coming along pretty quickly, I've still got to finish up the roof and the hood other than that it's all but done. You can only tell that I hacked the roof off and welded the new one on if you look really closely, but when it's done you'll be hard pressed to tell that it was done. I've also thrown in some pics of the motor as all of the bracing is in now.

I don't have the diagram in front of me, but there are 7 wires at the wiper switch and i believe only 4 at the wiper motor. The red wire in the center is the power wire for the wiper washer pump.

DarkBuddha did a conversion of a late 70's lincoln tilt column into his 70 column (internals swap). FYI
 
OK I added some pics, had to throw in some shots other than the column as I'm proud of all of the hard work I've done, hey if I wannna be an attention whore so be it.

The diagram dosent break down the windings/internals of the motor or the switch :shrug: anyone got a 69/70 and a multimeter?
 
I'm north of Edmond in Logan county. My buddy here at work who posts as 'whwright' has a '72 'vert that he's dropped a 460 into and is sort of making a 'vert Mach I clone car. My other buddy at work that doesn't post on here has a '67 coupe sitting in his back yard.

I've got a few other buds, mostly they race. Danny lives out your way, has a white '67 fastback that's backhalfed that he runs at TVRP.
 
White w/black appears to come from the fusebox, which could be the power wire.

orange/white is spliced with wires going to the circuit board, igntion switch, and heater wire. It would be safe to assume that this would be the ignition-hot wire that only allows you to turn the wipers on when the keys are in the on position.

Green is the hot wire to the washer motor.

The wires at the motor i cannot help you with right now, as i am at work. Its a start anyways

I owe you a beer:nice: Thanks for the help, I figured out that white at the motor is slow speed and blue is fast using the chasis ground off of the motor and I did it without letting any smoke out of it:D I'm guessing that the black and red coming out of the harnes with the white and blue are for the park feature when you shut the wipers off, but I'm not sure dont want to cook it as I have now verified that it still works.
 
I thought my pop's Lincoln tilt conversion for my Mach was cool, but that is a sweet conversion... I'm pretty envious actually. I guess my only consolation is that the Lincoln conversion didn't require any of the cutting/welding fab work you did. Still, I'd love to have the wipers and lights on the column instead of the dash. Maybe in the car's next incarnation.
 
With a welder under the bench anything is possible, but the wiring is proving to be the hard part. I looked high and low for the colum that you droped in yours and had zero luck finding one so I just grabed this one out of a ranger and made it work. 50 bucks for the column was cheaper than a new wiper switch!! LOL thats my bass ackwards thinking anyways. That plus I love to frustrate the hell out of myself tracing down wires beter than I like sanding and doing body work.
