Ok... as some of you know, I'm in the midst of a AOD to T-5 swap. Well, while I'm thinking about it, I need some opinions. First off, because my AOD blew up (again) and I"m getting the new tranny, I"M BROKE, so I'm hoping what I'm about to ask is a possiblilty. Over the past few years, I've slowly developed a valve rattle that's finally occuring enough to be a potential problem. Here's my question: The rattle seemed to only be a problem while the transmission was in the middle of shifting, or when it was on the verge of shifting but was under to much load to quite shift yet. Afterwards, it would go away. Is it POSSIBLE in the very least, that a transmission heading south could somehow cause the rattle? I mean, I KNOW i need a good cleaning and the carbon build up is probably pretty bad. But I can't even afford new brakes, much less MORE work. Anyway, just curious. Lend me your thoughts. If not I'll fork up more dough. Any thoughts on how much a cleaning would cost? or a valve job?
