WTF? Changed rag joint and still has slop in steering?

well i thought my play in the steering wheel was because of of a worn rag joint so i bought a new replacement, i have urethane control arm bushings, steeda ball joints, steeda bump-steer kit, and a fresh aligment, could the steering rack itself cause play in the steering wheel? oh i also have urethane center hole rack bushings, any help would be appreciated as my car wanders like a drunk bum on a sidewalk (thats what it feels like)

My rack went out and when I put the new one in, it tightened up the wheel BIG time - I had the situation where truck ruts caused the car to move side ways a foot or more with NO steering input.

yup thats what my car feels like, moving side to side with no steering imput, looks like i need a new rack then. :damnit:
